Okay, confession first. The Crazy Cajun was not our first choice. But being in Port Aransas for 2019 Sandfest, it came as no surprise that there was an hour plus wait at our first two choices at 8:30 pm on a Sat night. Stumbled onto The Crazy Cajun just three blocks off of TX-361 and could not have had a better meal for love nor money. Small hole in the wall, family-friendly restaurant with layers of paper on the tables and a roll of paper towels for napkins. :-) Our waiter, Coby, could not have been any more attentive without sitting with us. Professional, knowledgeable about the menu, gregarious & upbeat throughout our time there. Hubs had the jambalaya at Coby's recommendation and it made Hubs swoon with delight. Hubs also ordered the 1/2 lb shrimp and it was succulent & spicy in a very good way. I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail with remoulade sauce appetizer that was truly unique. Five HUGE shrimp, chilled to perfection with a creamy remoulade sauce for dipping. My first bite I was a little disappointed as the sauce didn't seem to add much to the shrimp... but by about the fourth chew I was in LUHV with the slightly spicy, slightly smoky-sweet flavor filling my mouth... oh my! I so enjoyed it I ordered another to take back to our condo. The Crazy Cajun was a serendipitous find and you're doing yourself a significant disservice in not trying it out ASAP. And ask to sit in Coby's section, unless we've taken him hostage. ;_)

Crazy Cajun in Port Aransas: A Spice-Infused Feast If you're looking for a taste of Louisiana magic on the Texas coast, then The Crazy Cajun in Port Aransas is a must-try. This laid-back joint lives up to its name with a menu that's all about bold flavors and fresh seafood. The staff at The Crazy Cajun were fantastic. Friendly and attentive, they made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Even though the place was buzzing, we were seated quickly and our food arrived in no time. The star of the show, of course, is the Crazy Cajun boil. This overflowing platter is a combination of plump shrimp, succulent crab legs, smoky sausage, sweet corn on the cob, and tender new potatoes. Everything is perfectly cooked, seasoned with their secret Cajun spice blend that packs a flavorful punch. But the real win is the crawfish! Being in season, they were included in the boil, adding a delightful sweetness to the mix. Pro tip: Don't skip out on the side dishes! The velvety dirty rice, rich gumbo, and hearty red beans and rice are the perfect complements to the seafood boil. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, and left us wanting more. Overall, The Crazy Cajun is a Port Aransas gem. Great food, friendly service, and a lively atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a casual and delicious meal. Just be prepared to lick your fingers clean!

So if you follow me on Google, I try not to ever leave negative reviews don’t feel like it’s fair because it’s my opinion, but my opinion does matter and after searching for great food in Port Aransas, the crazy Cajun popped up and I believe they had like a 4.7 star rating so other people‘s opinions matter as well but what I’m about to tell you is I wouldn’t feed their food to my dogs. My wife and I stopped in the waitress is very friendly. The door greeter was very friendly. The restaurant was clean, but as we sat down to eat, there was a family there with their kids. I wanna say five of them running all over the restaurant, creating all kinds of noise being very unpleasant, very annoying and obnoxious to all the other patrons in the restaurant and not one person said a word to him not even their parents could control to top that off. I ordered crawfish étouffée and my wife ordered gumbo and I also ordered a half a pound of their so-called smoked sausage as soon as the lady said the crawfish étouffée and the gumbo on the table I should’ve gotten up and walked out. I can instantly tell that the food was horrible, but may be in the person that I am. I still gave it a try and my mind was not changed. The food was horrible crawfish étouffée is usually made with a white cream sauce not a brown gravy and the gumbo is usually made with a roux. Well, I’m here to tell you that the profit and the gumbo had the exact same gravy on it if that’s what you wanna call it cause it wasn’t gravy. It wasn’t a rule. I don’t know what it was, but it was absolutely horrible. I took a few bites out of mine. My wife took a few bites out of hers and we left it on the table. Didn’t even ask for it to go box now let’s get to the smoked sausage. The sausage was not smoked and I don’t believe it was sausage. I feel like somebody took bologna, smashed it all up and stuffed it into a sausage cause it taste nothing like sausage and I grew up a poor kid eating government bologna and that’s exactly what it taste like so I don’t know who’s given these ratings to these restaurants but I am here to tell you that the crazy Cajun seafood restaurant in Port Aransas is absolutely ass. I do not recommend it to anyone and I will never ever eat there again. Sorry the crazy occasion for the bad review, but I can only tell the truth and this is my truth. It might not be everyone else’s truth, but this is how I feel like I said the waitress the door greeter they were great service was great. The food...

Coming here is a family tradition for us. We visited a week ago on a weeknight. There were 14 of us, and we came in willing to split up to be served. The host told us to wait, but groups came in and the guy literally said to some folks, "your table is waiting for you." When we asked to sit down at seperate tables, he said there was no room for that, and there was no way way for us to get in faster. He was talking down to us. If we hadnt been there before, we would have left and we almost did. We asked to speak to his supervisor and he said he was a manager. We told him this probably wasn't they best way to manage, and he just shrugged. This whole time others, were being seated. He was obviously uncomfortable in this small space with a big group, because he kept leaving. A group our size came in and he said it would be awhile, but he COULD split them up... In front of us. He also told us they don't combine tables(which is fine). He said we could look for ourselves. There seems to be only one setting for large groups. We watched as they were in no hurry to turn the table over when the previous group was done. It seemed odd to handle us in that way, we watched people leave because it looked so busy. He was losing business because of how he was handling us. At least two groups checked in and then decided to go elswhere while we waited. After that long awful exhange with this "manager" we were seated. Service was quick and awesome. Jase was a fantastic server. The rest of the staff was friendly and the food was fantastic. The kids had a wonderful first experience there. This place does have a lot of rules, but it is a fun dining experience. I would highly recommend relocating the young man from the front of the...

Initially, I was very excited to experience this place for myself after reading all the wonderful reviews. Little did I know that the staff there were baiting their customers. For every bad review, they would write several awesome reviews. I myself love food, no matter where the location or what the place looks like. A few of my favorite restaraunts are hole-in-the-wall places. When we walked in, there were no decorations or music playing. We weren't even sure the place was open yet. There was plastic utinsels and butcher paper covering the tables. No biggie. We got menus with little to no variety of food to choose from. Still, we were there for the cajun food boasted anyway. After ordering, we recieved some really wonderful sourdough bread, fresh and hot with butter. Pretty good, but about the only thing to comend them for. We ordered the crazy cajun and were charged around $20 a person for 3 people, while my daughter got the gumbo. Horrible is all I have to say about the food. The gumbo was bland and cold when served (my poor daughter was starving and wouldn't eat more than a bite), and the crazy cajun was absolutely disgusting. First, there was barely enough food there to feed 1 person (even though they charged us for 3 people), it was cold, the sausage was loaded with gristle, no flavor at all, except for the shrimp tasting like it was soaked in some sort of cleaning solution. I was so looking forward to trying this place, but ultimately came away deflated, disappointed, and sick to the stomach. If planning to try this place, proceed with caution (and...
