Just came back from a 4th of July trip. Friends and I were walking around looking for a place to eat and came across this place. We sat at a table inside that felt like it was going to fall apart and after 15 minutes of no one coming by, we moved up to the bar. After sitting for another 5 minutes, the bar tender (beer tap operator/bottle cap popper) finally came over. We ordered both bottled and tap beer as all they serve is beer. The tap beer was warm so we all switched to bottled beer.
We asked for menu's as we weren't asked if we wanted them. We ordered a sub, "chicken bites" and "The Gaffer". After about 45 minutes, the "Chicken Bites" came out of the oven (basically a frozen piece of chicken), then 10 minutes later the sub. At about the hour and 15 minute mark we asked for our Tab and were told that our Pizza was on the way out. We were so frustrated that we got it to go.
The pizza was absolutely terrible. The dough is frozen and they don't have a real pizza oven. They have a commercial version of a toaster oven which takes forever to make their so called awesome pizza. The thin crust tasted worse than Domino's cardboard crust pizza. Needless to say, we won't be returning to this crap hole the next time we...
Read moreThat’s right folks. This little hole in a wall joint holds the bragging rights for being the “birthplace of Texas belt sander racing.” Although they didn’t have the races the day I was there, I did get to see the “tracks” out back. It looks like it might be an entertaining sport.
I was on a quest looking for a late afternoon meal, and this place said “pizza” on the outside, and since most of the reviews say they have good pizza, I stopped in.
Well, after realizing they allow dogs inside (I love dogs, but don’t bring them inside a bar or food establishment) and they still allow smoking inside, I decided to just get a cold brew and hang out on the back patio instead. If you’re looking for a fun and relaxed dive bar to hang out at, this is probably it. There’s plenty of picnic table seating out back and they have a small stage for live music events.
Beer prices are great - cans of Sierra Nevada Sierraveza are $1.50 - you just can’t beat that with a stick.
Again, it’s a great place to hang out, but the smoking inside thing really turned me off. I don’t mind cigarette smoke on a patio, but when it’s inside, it just...
Read moreExcellent pizza! One of the things I fell in love with during my time stuck in northern Minnesota is pepperoni & green olives pizza and this is the only place that I can get it in this area. Luckily, they also do it incredibly well!! Great eccentric vibe happening there too!! dear previous review William* Not sure if you are aware but paying for music has been the way of every bar for eons. Going all the way back to when you traded a wooden nickel or a goat to the barkeep for a song on the player piano or requested a tune from the 3 piece band playing moonshine jugs and spoons... there is a long proven history of paying for music in the tavern. Even if you pay a cover for a band you are paying for music. It is almost like you get to be the D.J. and impose your taste, good or bad, on the masses. For a long time, even diners put a juke box on every table to let you pay for choosing the tunes. Unfortunately, this resulted in many, many marriages to people with decent music taste and absolutely no personality. Maybe that is the problem with the no music? Maybe it is exposing an issue with carrying a meaningful...
