This is the second closest Chinese restaurant to my house. I became interested in it out of necessity, when the closest one closed its doors. So I searched Google Maps for a substitute and came up with this one, China Kitchen II. I had driven past it at least a hundred times, but never bothered to stop in since I already had a regular place to go to.
But then I noticed a problem; why are there no reviews? Okay, maybe they are new, not enough time for reviews to show up. Or maybe they don't get a lot of business because only a small percentage of customers actually leave reviews, Or maybe... the food is not that great and no one felt the inclination to leave a review. Mmmm. What to do?
Well, I needed to establish a relationship with a new Chinese Restaurant, and I don't like driving far, so after a lot of contemplation I decided to take a chance. I called in my order and asked how long it would be and the lady on the phone said, "Right away." Interesting. My old restaurant always said twenty to thirty minutes and then was still late when I arrived to pick it up. Nice change. I was feeling better already.
So I drove to the China Kitchen II which is only 5 minutes away and walked into the front door. Boy, is this place clean. Spotless. That's important to me because nothing turns me off faster than a dirty restaurant. I gave a quick scan of the kitchen which is visible from the pick-up counter and that also was completely spotless. Another nice surprise.
And the phone lady wasn't kidding. I told the counter lady my name and my order was actually ready. No more waiting like the old place I used to frequent.
I drove home and my wife and I tried the Won-ton. The first thing I noticed was it was done "al-dente" kind of like spaghetti is supposed to be. I'm used to eating Won-ton kind of mushy, as in overdone, but this was much better. I commented that this was probably the way it is supposed to taste. Then we tried the Chicken with Fried Rice and it was excellent. Better than I've ever tasted. So I give it an A for the food.
I don't know why this restaurant had no reviews at the time of this writing, but it deserves some. And good ones. Overall, China Kitchen II is a five-star winner. Fast service, good prices, great food. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for outstanding...
Read moreI've had Chinese food in the area that I legitimately felt was a hazard to my health. This wasn't that bad but it certainly wasn't any good. Don't bother reading the menu, it all tastes the same. Also, make sure you get a beverage because you'll need the lubrication to get the food down. They're nice enough to thaw the broccoli but it's still 4 minutes short of being cooked. The pork fried rice tastes of old vegetable oil, the orange chicken and general tsos chicken cannot be distinguished from eachother and neither tastes like what you'd expect them to. The fortune cookie was the best part. It said "Be patient, be pleasant". It must've known the food was sub-par and felt the need to de-escalate the situation. I gave 2 stars. 1 for the cookies attempt at peace and 1 for the fact that I didn't feel the food...
Read moreLet me start by saying you walk in and the booth is plastic and all boarded up. You speak thru a tiny hole in the plastic to place your order, talkin about pandemic days, they are the ones that started it. these people are ridiculous. No contact, no customer service or even a friendly hello. A big sign on the plastic to go only! Take your food and go! They are definitely under new management because i remember you could sit and eat your food not these people. I was hesitant after i experience the unfriendly person behind the counter. I still preceded to order Chicken chow mein and i hoped for the best, but the food was just as bad. 😐Nope not for me there are alot of better choices for chineese food and more friendlier in...
