10/23/22 We decided to take a quick run to Port Townsend; I know I have said this in past reviews on Port Townsend; there's a lot of history and charm that flows in this little town, let alone the beautiful architecture and scenery! Our main goal was to get out for a couple of hours and enjoy the last sunny day for a while. We visited and shopped a couple of our usual spots, Lively Olive Tasting Bar; samples are back, and so many different oils and vinegars to try, and I cannot forget The Spice & Tea Exchange. Both places are great! So this review isn't on either one of these wonderful places; today, it is on Burritos Y Tacos restaurant. Although located on the main street, we never think about this little place, probably because their location is in a small strip mall of sorts versus in the heart of everything else; we pass it driving in and leaving. Today was a perfect day to try them! Cute inside and clean, with no dirty floors or sticky menus or tables, ok so we were the first customers in, and they had just opened for the day! Nonetheless, I have been at plenty of restaurants and cafes where they had just opened up for the day, stuff was left dirty, and menus were foul! Our server was Alex, a charming young man with a great personality! There were plenty of food options on the menu, but they were manageable, although I admit I had a hard time figuring out what I was hungry for, and everything sounded so good! My choice for lunch was the bean burrito; with a choice of beans, I picked refried beans. Also, included in the burrito was Pico de Gallo and cheese. Although tasty, I was under the illusion that the rice would come on the side and not inside the burrito. I normally don't care for the mix, but it worked out well in this case. My hubby had the Burrito Bowl; it looked so good, and he was pleased with it! He had a choice of meat (he picked carnitas) and beans; it also came with rice, cheese, and Pico de Gallo. Overall, we were happy and recommended anyone stop for a great Mexican meal! The only disturbing part of this dining experience was another customer coming in to order something, as she waited she decided to chat on her phone through speaker phone. Why people feel the need to discuss a conversation on speaker phone in public is beyond me, its disrespectful and rude! You can find Burritos Y Tacos at 1145 Water Street, Port Townsend, Washington. Other neighboring businesses near them is Toms Pharmacy, Quimper Mercantile Company and the Pizza Factory across Water Street. There seems to be plenty of parking around that area! Another prefect chance to help support a locally owned business!!! Don't forget, be kind to ALL living things!!! 🐾

The food here was very good. I had the shrimp enchiladas. Very good. Almost too much lime, IMO, but tasted really good and had lots of shrimp. I opted for pinto beans. Wife had the enormous burrito. This thing was HUGE! She ate it all and said it was good. I would definitely be back. I came back, about a week ago. Wife had the same thing but I had a green salsa soup, (Carne En Su Jugo, I think) The soup had really small, thin pieces of beef and pinto beans. Condiments were avocado, onions and herbs. They also brought out flour tortillas for me along with hot sauce. The soup was delicious, slightly sour, but did a number on my “bowels” for the whole evening and the next day. Would I go back? Not sure. The service was great and the place was cool looking.

I recently had the opportunity to dine at Burritos Y Tacos Mexican Grill, and I found it to be a pleasant surprise. The food was quite good, offering tasty Mexican cuisine that hit the spot. What was particularly convenient was the cleanliness and quality of the washroom facilities. It's always a plus to find a well-maintained restroom while on the go. One of the standout features of this restaurant is its location, situated just beside the ferry terminal. It made for a great stop while waiting for the ferry, providing a delicious meal and a comfortable place to relax before our journey. If you're ever in need of a satisfying meal near the ferry terminal, Burritos Y Tacos Mexican Grill is a solid choice.

It was my family's first time eating at this restaurant yesterday. We don't always get to visit Port Townsend, but when we do, it's a treat for the family. Well yesterday, this place was anything but a treat, and I say that because my daughter ordered their tacos with just ground beef and cheese. Well the ground beef is NOT the regular taco meat that you get when you order ground beef. It looked like sloppy Joe in a tortilla. Needless to say, we teach our kids to at least try things before they just say they don't like it...well guess what...she DIDN'T like it...so of course I tell the waitress after it sat at the edge of the table for a bit because she didnt come back for a bit to ask how the food was. When she did finally come back, she asked if my daughter wanted anything else, and I told her to give us a minute so that she could decide. Well, when she came back, she didn't ask if we had made a decision, she just said the boss said because the tacos were made and she took a bite, that we still had to pay for them, but he would give us 25% off. She took a SINGLE bite...ummm yes to try it and give your food a chance, but she didn't like it, so I would have liked the opportunity to order something else, BUT I'm sure as heck not about to order anything else, and give you anymore of my money, when you're going to make me pay for something my daughter didn't like and didn't eat! The waitress said that she tried to get him to take it off, but that's hard to believe because she also said she told him our daughter didn't eat because she didn't feel well. First of all, she was NOT sick, she was SLEEPY, HUNGRY, and TIRED because we had been walking around for hours taking in the scenes and shopping. She's 5, kids get tired, so it was NOT your place to assume anything! Secondly, when your OWN waitress ADMITS that the dish has been sent back MULTIPLE times because people ESPECIALLY kids don't like the meat because you don't actually have regular taco meat/ground beef, but whatever that tomato based meat sauce stuff you serve in place of it,THAT should tell you something! When we ordered...THAT should have been made clear to us, because there was prior knowledge of it, and I wouldn't have ordered it for our daughter, I would have ordered something else. The waitress still tried to box up the tacos even AFTER I told her my daughter wouldn't eat them because she didn't like them, and we didn't want them. I'm not going to waste my time getting into an argument with some people over $10 who obviously DON'T CARE about customer satisfaction, but just getting their money. I was prepared to order something in the place of the tacos so that you could still get your money, and my daughter could actually eat, but not when you're expecting me to pay for a dish that isn't standard taco meat(admitted by your waitress), and you're aware does not taste good (also admitted by your waitress). The food here is subpar and nothing spectacular in my opinion. Also, back off on the salt in your black beans, you're going to give someone high blood pressure. The best part of my dish was the rice, and you can't mess up cheese quesadillas and french fries. My daughter said she wished we waited until we were back on Whidbey Island to go to her favorite Mexican restaurant because this one was bad, and I'd have to AGREE. Definitely NOT WORTH the $100 my family spent! THANK YOU to Waterfront Pizza and Ground to Perfection for the Pizza and Hot Cocoa for our kiddo. She REALLY enjoyed it. As I said, we don't get to Port Townsend often, but when we do, we make it a treat for the day. Next time, we will definitely SKIP this place and find a Taco Bell FIRST before we eat...

I've been to this restaurant at least a half a dozen times, the first time we went was before they changed their name from burrito y taco, to what it is now.

The first couple of times we went there it was fantastic! one of the cooks there is just phenomenal and made the best Mexican food I've literally ever had in my life. But since then it's been, meh. Mediocre at best. I don't think that man works their full time.

The last time we went in and sat down I asked the young lady if she could make a tequila sunrise, a real treat for me as I hadn't had one in years, at which point she could have said no. But instead she said "yes of course", what she brought back was a quarter of a glass of syrup with a splash of tequila and some orange juice.

If she had been honest and said no I would have told her the grenadine is just for color and to be used very very lightly, unless she actually did know how to make the drink and she just didn't care enough to make the drink properly. I made a point of leaving most of the drink on the edge of the table where she could not possibly have missed it, she pretended not to notice.

My son went today and got us a couple of burritos to go, I got the fish and in no way could it be described as a made with any kind of TLC. The ingredients were just thrown together, the burrito shell in my opinion should have been toasted, just a bit! And unlike most Mexican dishes it didn't really meld.

So I'm gonna give them a break for a while, maybe they'll do better in...
