So we stopped in hear for an early dinner and I was very impressed. I should have taken photos of the inside because when we got there almost no one was there by the time we finished there were no empty tables. So what you really want to know about is the food. In my picture here is an order of sweet potato Fry's on the left and their spicy ham and cheese sandwich. The Fry's have a lovely spicy mayo dip and unlike most sweet potato fries are breaded. The sweet smell of the fries with the spicy mayo was a great combination. Now for the main course. This sandwich surprised me. To start my wife picked this place specifically because that had a vegetarian Berger and the large number of vegetarian and vegan food options didn't leave me super hopeful for the ham sandwich. However I really enjoyed the sandwich the ham that they used was a nice thick cut from good ham not your standard deli ham. This ham just easily pulled apart and tasted great with the cheese and the light spice of the sauce. They only downside of this is the bread ended up a little to crisp from the cooking process for my taste but still it was great and I was totally full after.
Fries = delicious Spicy ham and cheese = ham fantastic bread was a little crisp
For those wondering my wife had a Portobello Berger she loved it we shared the...
Read moreWe cane in at about 5 p.m. on a Saturday. We ordered a burrata, a Mediterranean bowl with chicken, and a lamb bowl. My husband asked if the Mediterranean bowl rice could be made without garlic or onion (he has a sensitivity) and the waiter said he would ask and let us know.
A few minutes later, we were given our bowls - and my husband's had mixed greens instead of the rice. Apparently the rice can't be made without garlic or onion (we assume - the waiter never told us about this substitution). Ok, that's fine. We asked about our burrata. The waiter said he'd bring it and we got to eating.
After another 20 minutes, we were done with our entrees and figured the burrata had evaporated and we didn't need it anyway, as it turned out. It was difficult to get the waiter's attention, but I asked for the check. Instead he brought us... the burrata.
We declined it and asked for it to be removed from the check. He did so and brought us the check. 2 dinners came out to nearly $60. Why? Because we didn't read the menu carefully enough. Adding unherbed, grilled chicken to the Mediterranean bowl costs ELEVEN DOLLARS.
Tl;dr: changed our order without consulting us, brought our appetizer way late and had to be reminded to bring it at all, and then the protein add oks are far...
Read more5/31/25 I can’t help but feel disappointed when I return to a place I once loved, and then it changes. That’s exactly what happened today at the Owl Spirit Café in Port Townsend.
Despite the overcast skies, we were eager for lunch, recalling our enjoyable visits in the past. The café itself is small, with just eight or nine tables. After we were told to take a table for two, we received our water promptly, we took about five minutes to choose what we wanted to order.
However, we soon noticed that three groups who arrived after us were being helped immediately. Even though I made eye contact with the server behind the counter several times, we were completely overlooked, time after time.
After sitting for twenty minutes, watching everyone else get helped while we waited and waited, we decided enough was enough and left.
Owl Spirit Café, it would have been not only nice, but professional if someone had simply acknowledged us. Instead, we felt ignored time and again. We don't mind waiting, we do mind being completely ignored!
You’ve lost two customers today and all...
