Warm fresh-roasted bean coffee is never empty while served hot plates of choice selections of perfectly made-to-order eggs, tasty meats, and any sweet side baked or griddle-flipped creation you desire. The hostess/waitress very obviously hates her job and wanted to be anywhere else but there serving customers. We were sat at a table - in a very empty restaurant directly where the sun was in our faces due to sunset. The restaurant is directly in the lobby of the hotel so it’s not as “nice” as it’s portrayed. Service was excruciatingly slow. It took over 40 minutes to receive an appetizer, salad, and chicken sandwich. The appetizer was brought out with the food… so it was extremely soggy from sitting out before the main food was ready as it was bruschetta. Read moreFood and service at ALTO are always good. BUT, they really need to stop marketing an outdoor terrace that doesn't have any place to sit! My wife and I have stopped by 3 times looking to dine outside only to find that all of the exterior tables (a whopping 4 of them) are occupied by either a large party hogging all the furniture or other folks who were lucky enough to get a spot outside. The size of the terrace is huge and they are marketing the outdoor area like crazy - why not add some tables and chairs to make the place useable? Is there some outdoor furniture shortage we aren't aware of? Everywhere else in Portland seems to figure out how to buy patio table and chairs - c'mon ALTO. You...
