Stopped in Portland on a Tuesday afternoon after labor day and spotted this place when pretty much every restaurant in the bustling neighborhood was closed. Ended up having the best meal of our vacation. The food was made to order. From salmon sandwich to pasta with shisedo peppers. Everything was fresh and the simplicity of the flavors won us over. We also got a slice of salted caramel chocolate cake to share and it was delicious. Probably the best piece of chocolate cake I've ever had. Not super rich or sweet. And yet so moist and complex. The food was served in their handmade pottery. It was a sensory experience. This is how good food should be. Simple, unassuming and not trying too hard. A little poetic today but it was actually this good. We will definitely be back.

Wow. I just popped in to give it a try since it re-opened with ZERO expectations. The place was packed with ppl (some ppl eating alone, some on their laptops, etc) but it was easy to order and grab a small table. We randomly ordered a breakfast sandwich and oh man, this beats Tandem! The biscuit was perfectly fluffy and the sausage, egg, and arugula were all perfectly done. Nothing was over/underwhelming. I really think it might be my favorite breakfast sandwich in the area. The display case was also full of tempting looking baked goods. Can’t wait to come back for lunch and park it on my laptop for a productive lunch! Edit: tried the pazole soup and shakshuka—super delicious and hearty!! Will be back for the soup.

A great place for brunch/lunch. Portland Pottery Cafe is located on the East End, right near Silly's and Maine Mead Works. The interior is clean and cozy, and the staff are really friendly and seem to enjoy working there. You can also buy pottery and handcrafted mugs, all of which are on sale once you get inside. The food is delicious, with great prices on sandwiches and especially their amazing soups and stews. You just can't go wrong. The only drawback is that the inside can't seem to warm up too well in the winter, and aside from that - wait times tend to be on the longer side. However, Portland Pottery Cafe is one of my favorite places for brunch or lunch in the area. You will not be disappointed.

Why is veganizing your food more expensive than getting it as is with dairy and meat? If plant based foods are expensive than animal products, what is that saying about the quality of these animals that are being raised for food? what is it doing to your body? Cute cafe and loved the idea of a Pottery Cafe, but NOT an ideal place for plant based diet people. If you are trying to be meat or dairy free, I would say this may not be the place for you. However, if you eat everything, then... carry on. I ordered the El Ranchero and asked for no meat and subbed the eggs with tofu and veggies. I asked for avocado and english muffin. The El Ranchero supposed to come with "black beans and corn salsa", I misunderstood that and thought it comes with good amount of black beans. I come to find out that the "black beans" included in the description is like 10 pieces mixed in with the salsa. I asked for extra beans and I got more salsa with with 7 more pieces of beans lol I let it go and started seasoning my food before eating it, you know why. Half way through, I noticed a pieces of bacon in my plate. I wont come back here again, and if you're on plant based diet, this is not the place for you. Good luck to everyone else. I wish you good health...

I have had breakfast here three times and cake here once. They food i've had has been very good. The menu is good and incorporates more veggies than your run of the mill breakfast place. Most things seem freshly made to order. The coffee is good. (so you get the long, the food here is good!) :) Coffee is self serve, but you get to pick a beautiful handmade ceramic mug to drink it out of while you are there.

I go back for the buttered toast with raspberry preserves. Those preserves are the best I've ever had, I've even started trying to make my toast at home like they do and always fall short. The cake I got there was out of this world as well. I suspect all of the baked goods are.

The pottery sold there is made in the studio next door, I believe, by a variety of artists. There are many solid good looking pieces that people will likely love for at least a lifetime. The open layout, pretty displays, wood floor, and street view windows make sitting and eating in there a pleasure like no other I have experienced in Portland. It is truly an escape from...

The atmosphere gave this place an extra star. This place is overpriced for what it is. Hubs got a breakfast sandwich and said it was four stars. I got the eggs, toast, potatoes, and bacon platter. The eggs were the best part since they had a grill flavor. Did not enjoy my potatoes at all. Here are our major complaints- we tried going at 4:10 pm for an early dinner. They closed at 5 pm. When we got there we were told the kitchen closed an hour before, so we left. This was not advertised on any of the four sites we researched on this place- trip advisor, Google, yelp, or their actual website. This was a huge inconvenience since parking is already a bear in Portland and we have a baby and it happened to be raining. However we’ve heard good things about this place so we decided to go for breakfast instead. We got their about 15 min after opening and I guess that was too early because some of the breakfast food items weren’t ready or...
