Horrendously rude customer service. After checking the website, I headed over to Forage Market to check it out. Upon arriving, it appeared closed even though the website stated they opened at 7 am. I called the number and was told they weren’t officially open yet. I informed them that their delivery was there (driver had come over thinking I worked there). Employee informed me he was in Lewiston and didn’t know what to do about it and hung up. Wonderful entrance to Portland! I shared the conversation wii the driver, who chuckled and mumbled about kids these days as he walked back in the rain to his 18 wheeler. While I fully appreciate that they’re not open for business, be responsible and update your website. Add your details to your google maps profile. Train your employees to listen and respond with solutions.

Updated review: visited this morning and they are clearly overwhelmed, understaffed and undertrained. I’m sure it will get better once they get it together. Bagels are fine. Toppings meager.

Updated review 4/2019: I keep giving them a chance. I want to love all the new businesses opening in Portland. But they are still an absolute disaster. Disorganized, dirty. Lots of lines and lots of employees not looking wholly busy. Ordered bags with veggie cream cheese. It’s red pepper cream cheese. I get that they want to be precious and so unique, but call it what it is - perhaps rotating veggie and name what veggie is in it. Or red pepper cream cheese.

Updated review 8/3/2019: horrendously understaffed. Coffee station out of everything - including coffee - and covered in cream, sugar and coffee. Really disgusting. Staff unresponsive when...

It was very disappointing I was told by a member of the family of the owner about the bagel shop and was very excited. We ordered at 12:55 at 1:00. Went to get a table and the young lady was putting the chairs on top of the table and I said we'd like to set it to this table and she said well we encourage you to leave we had not got our food yet. We encourage you to leave because we closed at 1:00. There were four with people. I said well we would like to sit here she disgustedly put the chair down and let us set there. I went and said something to the cashier I said if you don't allow people to sit and eat because it closes at 1:00 I don't think it's probably a good idea to let people order up until 1:00 maybe you should stop taking orders so people do have time to sit down and eat as it is a dine-in facility. She did not agree and it was obvious that she shared the information I had said with all the others. As we sat there the young lady that was putting the chairs up right across from where we were sitting went and talked to one of the Bakers where we could hear them talking about us you could overhear that they were saying the baker said well we don't need their service as this makes it difficult for the employees. Not only that but after the young lady left he stood there very rudely and stared at us totally grinning at us obviously trying to intimidate us and said he was the manager it was a terrible experience we will not go back and we will not recommend anyone go back as the customer service was terrible as you can read. There was no...

I’m absolutely in shock as to the enormous and beautiful space J then was placed into one place with a snarling guy who had the charm of a common that’s what he was garden snake. However I saw very happy employees in open spaces except for the fact I’m the customer with money to spend on my vacation. After I ordered my bagel that was over priced and lacking in cream cheese and wood-fired doesn’t that sound amazing sadly it wasn’t. And I was shocked by the hours 7 to 1: but what caused me to write this the final straw was I ordered a latte which was half full and it had too much foam. I was a barista for seven years in Hong Kong I’m quite certain I know what a latte is: So I told another snarling unhappy employee which seemed weird because everyone else was happily enjoying tve space I was suppose to enjoy. So she provided a half full cup very little milk and I think she actually foamed the coffee so waiting in a tiny and I mean tiny waiting room on front of open shelf’s and obnoxious screens my order came out. Mr Smarls came from behind hos customer service lair and asked me if I wanted tge half full cappuccino and I said no please make an actual latte: I got back a little fuller cup and still foamed coffee with a little milk: owner figure it out and let me tge valued customer enjoy a real place for everybody Baby including your full tone neighbors: you know the...

A friend raved about Forage’s bagels so we knew we wanted to get breakfast here when we came to Portland. The basic breakfast sandwiches are really reasonably priced ($8), but the bagels were a bit of a letdown. The sesame seeds on our everything bagels were charred, and that taste overpowered everything else. We would probably try something else if we returned. What was worse was the WiFi situation — I had planned to get some work done while eating breakfast, but the guest WiFi here was impossibly slow. A speed test showed a download speed of less than 1 Mbps, which essentially is not usable even for loading websites. I was the only one there using a computer, so not sure what was going on. Definitely suggest management looks into this, unless they’re just disincentivizing customers from using their WiFi. Ultimately we had to take our food to go. Fortunately the cafe across the street kindly let us post up there and use their WiFi even though we were bringing in outside food.

Overall a great location for a light meal or coffee chat. The staff is incredibly warm and were even kind enough to field some of my questions about the latte I ordered. Ambience was nice, although it seemed a little more industrial than one might expect for a coffee shop/bagel cafe. Options are plentiful but even the 'bottom of the barrel' poppyseed bagel w/ plain cream cheese (what I ordered after showing up quite late in the day) was great for the price! I would, especially since it's a holiday special, highly recommend the Gingerbread latte, although there was arguably too much residue from the syrup or coffee bean at the bottom of my cup, making for a somewhat grainy last mouthful. Nevertheless, I would have to say in terms of the quality for price, this is one of the best places I've been to on the East Coast.
