Cadejo Coffee is one of those rare places that feels both beautifully curated and deeply human. The interior is warm and inviting—light wood, live plants, and a gorgeous floral mural make the space feel airy and contemplative, the kind of café where you want to linger with a book or a good conversation.
My wife and I stopped in early on a weekend morning and enjoyed a serene, quiet atmosphere, which later transformed into lively chatter as the morning picked up. Both moods suited the space perfectly. I ordered a latte that was smooth and balanced, while my wife tried a seasonal citrus-infused latte recommended by the owner—a unique, bright combination of flavors I kept wishing I had ordered myself. Later, we split a French toast that arrived plated like a work of art: grilled peaches, a sweet cream drizzle, and a texture unlike anything I’ve seen before. Even the fried eggs on the side were exceptional—perfectly cooked and memorable in their simplicity.
What struck me most, though, was the genuine kindness of the owner. While we were ordering, a homeless gentleman wandered in. Instead of being brushed off (as sadly happens too often), the owner greeted him by name, offered him a coffee and pastry, and spoke with him warmly before returning to help us. It was a small but profound act of generosity that set the tone for the entire space—this isn’t just a coffee shop, it’s a place where humanity and hospitality come first.
If you’re in downtown Portland, especially near the parks, make time to stop here. Whether you come for the coffee, the food, or simply the atmosphere, you’ll leave...
Read moreI met a friend here for coffee mainly because of the location, and neither of us had been here before. It was a bright, warm spot to take refuge from the rain!
It's a cute coffee shop that's not too small but not too large. There's one medium-sized open space with lots of 2- and 4- seat tables around the edges along the walls and the windows, and one large communal table in the center.
I just got a mocha with oat milk and a butter croissant. Both were wonderful. But then after we sat down I saw someone bringing out these plates of gorgeous food that smelled amazing. Definitely going to try one of the hot breakfast plates next time!! They looked so delicious.
Service is nice (very kind people!), moves at a good pace, and the prices are reasonable.
When we were there mid-morning on a weekday, the customers were a mix of business meetings, adults meeting up with friends, and some families. The noise level was manageable and it was easy to hold a conversation here without feeling like we were competing with the music or other people, as I feel like we do in some other coffee shops.
Street parking isn't as difficult to find here usually. I found a parking spot right across the street and my friend found one just around the corner.
Glad to have another coffee shop in PDX to add to my...
Read moreI can’t recommend this coffee shop enough. I usually get the café de olla latte or drip coffee (it tastes like home, flavors I’ve missed so much since moving away from SoCal) and my husband gets the molé mocha (must try! Incredible blend of flavors that’s unlike any coffee I’ve tried). They have quite a few other flavor offerings which are all delicious and pretty unique to the area. Every time I’ve been, the owner is behind bar and absolutely killing it. I don’t think he can pull a bad shot!! The rest of the staff is always so friendly, eager to help and seem genuinely happy. It really sets a calm and welcoming atmosphere.
Editing to add Ancestro review! If you were to have told me a few months ago I’d be having chilaquiles that were so good and beautifully presented I’d consider it finer dining I would not have believed you. Everything they make is a work of art and SO good. My toddlers can be picky, but never when I’ve brought home breakfast from here. This last time I went, I took them and my husband to dine in with me and they showed us such great kindness. They brought out an extra dish for them and the babies devoured it haha. It was so appreciated and I can’t wait until next week to see what’s on the menu. I wish I would have taken pictures before they were able to get to...
