Alright, this place is amazing. Many people have told me time and time again to try this place out. I regret not going sooner. I love spicy foods, and yes, I can tolerate super hot. I grow reapers for fun, for crying out loud lol. Anyways, I got the 12 wing basket and got 2 flavors. Raspberry and cilantro lime. Took a bite of the lime and was in awe at how delicious it was. But... I tried the raspberry and my jaw dropped. I couldn't tell you how much I loved this sauce! This will be my regular sauce each time I come here. You will never know how excited I was when I was informed you can BUY a jar of the sauce of your choosing!! You better believe I got my self a big jar :D! Now the chicken itself, little on the dry side, but still crispy. Sauce negated the dryness. I will give them the benefit of the doubt cause we came at peak dinner time so I can completely understand the rush there. Choices of sauce is fairly easy to choose from. While you are ordering up front, they have ALL the sauces available for taste testing... Unbelievably smart on their part. Fire on the mountain is also known for the wing challenge with the El hefe sauce. Finish a plate of wings and you get stuff. I tried the sauce, not hot for me, BUT it is very hot. The sauce flavor does have a unique flavor, but I did not like it myself. Right when I tasted it, I got hit with that pepper extract taste, which I intentionally stay away from. I confirmed with the guy over the counter that it does have extract. Don't get me wrong, I will do the challenge another day, but just to do it and not for flavor, which I think is the point. Either way, I will be coming back here and my friend and I want to make it a monthly or bi weekly thing to come here after work. On the fence about trying it? Hopefully this will lean you towards going :)

I came here after work because a local told me this was the best place for chicken in Portland. I’m visiting from out of state, so I figured I’d better make this one of my first stops! What a disappointment. The size of the chicken didn’t bother me, it was the flavor. We tried cilantro lime, Jamaican jerk, the bourbon sauce, raspberry habanero chili lime, and bbq in both vegan and traditional forms. The jerk was sweet with no spice. The bourbon had a decent kick to it - that’s it. The chili lime was mostly Buffalo hot sauce and water. The raspberry habanero was mostly raspberry and water. The bbq was watery as well. I live in Texas so that was a big let down but somewhat expected for the northwestern corner of the US. For the vegan wings and nuggets, hella soy. I understand it’s a soy-based alternative, but good grief. Is there anything else in them? I’m not even vegan and I understand there’s more to veganism than soy. Maybe try jackfruit instead? Also, the wings were cold! I think one batch was lukewarm. The fried pickles were very hard! I had never had fried pickle spears before this, I’m used to the chips, so I was excited to try them. Whomp whomp. Then, when one of the workers came by our table and saw that we hadn’t really touched much, they asked if we wanted to take anything home. We said no because we didn’t really care for the meal. Instead of offering a dessert or anything, they simply walked away 😭 Most of the sauces aren’t thick at all- best one I can recall was the blue cheese dressing on the side. I’m really confused as to how the reviews are so great and the line was out of the door when we left the establishment. 2 stars for the onion rings and because the service when you walk in isn’t terrible.

I want to caveat this with, we’ve been to this location at least a dozen times if not more in the last few years. We love the sauce and get a jar to go every time we visit Portland. If you love saucy wings and / or deep fried pickles, this is the place for you. The cooks know what they are doing and slam that good stuff out quick.

That being said. Our service last night left me feeling, honestly, humiliated.

Our server at the counter was a young woman with short black hair who was very friendly. We observed her energetically talking to guests, taking in/out orders, cleaning, organizing, etc. and she was rocking it. As a server for over 13 years I can tell you with certainty that she was doing her job above n beyond and I truly hope she is the lead here.

Our table server, not so much. He was a young ish fella, perhaps 25-30. When he brought me my deep fried pickles I noticed it didn’t have the extra blue cheese I paid for at the counter. I understand it’s made in house that’s why I had no problem paying extra for the amazing sauce we have grown to love. When I requested the blue cheese and my jar of sauce the first time he huffed at me, looked around the room as if to signify to me that the place is busy and acted as if I was bothering him? When he came back, he clearly had an attitude in his step and posture as he popped a sauce container of blue cheese that was less than half full on the table. I was confused by this because I’ve never been served like that before (anywhere?) and he left so quickly I couldn’t remind him about my sauce that he didn’t bring. I don’t care for the pickle sauce so that was no help with the dry deep fried pickles and at this point I’m bummed because my food is less hot and I really wanted that blue cheese I paid for. I made polite conversation with my table to distract from my growling tummy and about fifteen min later he came over with my husband’s food. At this time, I asked him can I have more blue cheese and again asked for my jar of sauce, please
