Navis Cafe — Restaurant in Portland

Order was accurate. I've visited this establishment 4 times, none of which were by choice but rather a lack of options.

First visit I could not locate an employee at the front counter for several minutes to place an order. Menu monitors were off as well. Ended up leaving without being helped after about 10 minutes.

Second visit I was not greeted but rather asked what I wanted. Got the chicken bacon ranch style sandwich. It was inedible, the chicken was not able to be bitten through and quite tough. The bacon was decent. Overall the sandwich was childsized and $16.

Third visit i got what amounted to a $15 turkey and cheese sandwich that tasted exactly like Oscar Meyer meets that you would have at home.

4th visit again i was not greeted. I stood in what i thought was a line; it was not. It was an employee and a manager. Still no greeting, no apology etc... I got the turkey with caramelized onions and apple. It was made as ordered but the execution made it difficult to eat like a sandwich. Inevitably made a mess with the oversized apple pieces falling out.

Overall they will get your order correct for a premium price for a product that you could easily find in a backyard. The "juice is not worth the squeeze" and I can only imagine they are still open for their location and not the...

I have spent a ridiculous number of hours in this cafe over the last year and a half. Navis is one of the few "cafe vibe" type places in the area that is open past 3pm. I am in school every day from early morning through the afternoon and haven't found any other place where I can come after school and have enough time to get anything done before closing. Navis has gotten me through the toughest finals weeks of dental school. The vibe is perfect, nice music playing, not too loud, ambient sound from the cafe, nice view through the wall of windows, there is one table in the corner with an outlet that I definitely monopolize. There is even an outdoor seating area that's great during the summer. The draft latte is delicious and keeps me going. When I get hungry it has the perfect food for a snack or a meal with options for me (vegan) and my friends with no dietary restrictions. Prices are very fair The service is great. No one has ever been upset with me for ordering just a coffee or two and staying posted up at a table with my laptop out for the entire day....

Navis opened just before the pandemic got rolling and as part of its business plan probably expected waves of office workers to line up for lunch every day. That didn't really happen until a couple of years later, but it's the norm now and it's not by accident. Over the last four years, Navis has endured by producing a wide range of top-quality sandwiches, salads and soups day in and day out. When everything else is closed - as most things were today in very sloppy weather - Navis is open. When you need to know that you'll get a top quality, tasty and healthy meal, Navis comes through. Wait times are often as short as the interval between placing your order and sitting down and pulling your chair up to the table. It's clean, it's bright - with a good view of the water, and the interior is nicely styled. I can't think of any negatives. I've come to like the place more and more, and given the steady flow of patrons, I don't seem to be alone in thinking this.
