Hate to leave bad reviews but we were really taken back by this place. We visited on a Friday, and it was pretty quiet. Wanted to get a flight, but was told immediately that they 'don't do flights' despite us having seen pictures online of flights and seeing the materials for flights right in front of us behind the bar. No biggie, though. What really bothered us was that we sat at the bar (we were 2/3 people at the bar) and the bartender did not offer to check us out once we were done, so we went to the register (again, no biggie). He came over, cracked a joke about the price of cases of beer and then took/swiped my fiance's card without telling us the price, then turned the iPad around to see a $170 bill for 2 beers we got. He had mistaken us for someone else buying 8 cases of beer, apparently (did he not get a good look at us while we were sitting right in front of him at the bar for 30 mins?). But instead of apologizing and refunding us immediately, he checked us out on the handheld device for our drinks and said take care. We were halfway back to the hotel when we realized he actually DID charge us $170 without refunding it. We went back right away, and he did refund us, saying 'Oh, did I do that? Sorry. Cheers'... but what if we didn't double check the bank account? Really unprofessional and not a good way to start our first night of vacation. I don't know if he was drunk or just having a rough night but that could've been a VERY costly mistake and at least warranted a...
Read moreIt was a fun experience. We ordered 2 flights, $14. One flight for $7.50 or 1 flight & 2 pints for $17. You can't really beat that! My boyfriend and I tried all 8 beers they had on tap. The sour one was our least favorite, but if you're in to that type or want to try something new, that'd be the one. Service was great and atmosphere. There was a wide range of beer, sparkling wine, and ciders to choose from. You can make your own six pack which is always fun for those wanting to o try something new! This place was kind of out of the busy street, which was nice because you could veer off from the tourists. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're a beer connoisseur or like trying to new flavors!...
Read moreWe start every visit to Portland at the beer hub. This was our first visit since the ownership change, and it was the best. We sat at the bar, had a couple of flights and free hard boiled eggs, AND most importantly a great chat with Cooper (bartender) and Chris (off duty bartender, drinking a beer at the bar). We go to the Hub to get an overview of the state of beer In Portland. Chris and Cooper were more than happy to give us tips and generally give us advice on where to go and what to see, drink, and eat. A really great visit! Plus, the bathrooms are spanky clean! If you go, float Cooper a nice tip to fund his spring break...
