Update: I was just there again and forgot the last time I reviewed the place a couple of years ago. Having done almost 50 other teriyaki places in between. I keep coming back here as this place is the hidden gem of local teriyaki. The portions and flavor are fantastic. It feels like they've gotten more plants in the front. The only place that rivals it is Du's and that place is so busy. If you're in St. John's, this is the place to head up! Old: Food is fantastic. Place was pretty busy and you can tell locals hit this place up all the time. It's got a real old school vibe because it is a house/ business. I felt like I was in someone's grandma's place with all the house plants... To go service only Pretty much no wait time if you get the chicken or pork. They have a really good menu even though I haven't tried very much on it. The quality of rice was so good. I say that because if it's just so so it just doesn't feel like anything else fits together. I really like that. They had sauce out if you wanted something spicy or a little bit more of the teriyaki sauce and it's just so easy to grab. I think a lot of places fail at some of the to-go elements. But this was so dialed in. It didn't matter. There were almost 10 people waiting. I think I was in and out and three to four minutes. This place rocks will hit them up again

Taste Price Quantity Kindness all of those are very impressive! My kids LOVE this ‘yakisoba’ and ‘sweet&sour’, and my favorites are ‘spicy chicken teriyaki’ and ‘spicy peanuts’!!! My kids says St. John’s Kitchen is the best teriyaki not only in town but in the world. I agree with that. :-)

Pictured is the orange chicken (#12 on the menu). While the rice is fine, the orange chicken was the problem. It was very over cooked and lacked any real pieces of chicken which made it hard to chew or enjoy.

First time here... I tried the teriyaki chicken and the orange chicken, and they were both very good. Perfect sticky rice, tasty teriyaki sauce, even the basic salad was good (crisp lettuce with lightly sweet dressing, yum). I deducted one star only because #1 For the price, I think you should get a bit more than what they give you, and #2 The chicken in the teriyaki chicken dish : the outer edge pieces of the chicken were just a bit too crisp, which made it hard to chew. But, please know that this is something very very minor and will not at all keep me from returning! I'm extremely picky when it comes to restaurant food, and this is in my top 3 for teriyaki. If you're in the area, you should give them a try! (Another plus.. They are also very...

Incredibly underwhelming. Literally the most disappointing teriyaki I've ever eaten. I'll give the restaurant two stars because at least I'm not gonna get food poisoning--the chicken was fully cooked but there was practically no teriyaki sauce on the chicken while my salad was drenched in dressing. Since the restaurant is now takeout-only, I had no opportunity to try the food on-site, where I could have adjusted it to my taste. It was bad enough that I considered driving back and asking for a refund, but it was too much of a hassle.

The gyōza were okay, but I didn't even get gyōza sauce--I got a packet of sweet and sour sauce. That was also disappointing. Definitely will not...
