I discovered Sweet and Salty through the Too Good To Go app, and I was so pleasantly surprised that I felt compelled to write this review, which is something I havenāt done in over a year. Thatās how much they deserve the praise. I love a thicker cookie thatās soft in the middle, and Sweet and Salty absolutely nails it. Every cookie Iāve tried so far has been fantastic. Since the Too Good To Go bags are random, I havenāt sampled the whole lineup, but Iāve been impressed every time. My personal favorites are the peanut butter and sugar cookies. Simple classics done perfectly, but they also offer unique, creative flavors if thatās more your style. The shop itself is small and unassuming, which makes it quick and easy to pop in and out. But donāt let its size fool you, this place is a standout in a city thatās overflowing with cookie options, many of which donāt measure up. My only problem with this place is that I am trying to take it easy on desserts, and now Sweet and Salty is going to make that very difficult for me. I truly hope Sweet and Salty sticks around for years to come, because theyāve earned their spot as one of Portlandās cookie gems. If youāre a cookie lover, I canāt recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just noticed this place while driving around the neighborhood looking for a bakery, so I spontaneously popped in to see what they offer. They have a good selection of treats, mostly typical bakery offerings such as cupcakes, cookies, and bars. However, they also have some breakfast and light lunch options like wraps and sandwiches. All of these come at reasonable prices with bundle deals. They currently have a little less in terms of flavors than a traditional bakery might have, but I'm pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cupcakes and cookies, as well as having some fairly creative and fun flavors like the root beer float cupcake. I spoke with the male owner who was really nice and seemed excited about the place, which added to the positive atmosphere. It's well-organized and clean. Location seemed a bit odd to me, but it's great that they're in a block that doesn't have much other food in it. I read an article about them online saying that they're working to offer Southeast Asian treats, to which I look forward. There's a lot of potential here and I'm sure it will grow. I'll be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI got the orange dream cupcake, the triple choco cupcake, and the brown sugar cinnamon pop tart. The orange dream cupcake was the most perfect orange flavored dessert I have ever had and what I have always wanted to make for myself. The cake itself was moist and perfectly flavored, the icing was also perfect (how do you do it? Please tell me!) and perfect consistency for piping. I can usually bypass icing altogether on cupcakes and it was not the case here. The pop tart was good, I maybe should have warmed it up in the toaster oven? But I worried how the icing would fare in that scenario. Lastly, the chocolate cupcake was not my favorite, I would not get it again, it was very sweet and thatās all I can really say about it. But it was worth the price and fees and tip for orange...
