From the moment we walked into The Chinese Cowboy, I knew this was going to be one of the highlights of Portland. Everything about this place feels specialâclean, welcoming, and filled with energy that makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is warm, almost like stepping into a spot where youâre not just a customer, but a part of the family.
I want to take a moment to give special recognition to Becky, Cody, and Bridget. These three went above and beyond to make our visit truly unforgettable. Their customer service wasnât just professionalâit was personal. They carried themselves with a friendliness and genuine care that you donât find often. They checked in on us consistently, made sure everything came out right, and had such a natural way of making us feel comfortable, like old friends catching up. Itâs rare to find service where you feel both respected and cared for, but thatâs exactly what Becky, Cody, and Bridget delivered.
The food itself was excellentâfresh, flavorful, and served quickly despite how busy things were. You could tell the kitchen knows exactly what theyâre doing. Every plate came out hot, beautifully prepared, and full of taste. Pair that with the fun drinks and the easygoing vibe, and it all added up to one of the best dining experiences weâve had in Portland.
On top of that, the place is spotless. Clean tables, clean restrooms, and fast service all around. You donât feel rushed, but you also donât wait long for anythingâwhich shows just how well the staff works together as a team. That balance is hard to find, but theyâve nailed it here.
What really stood out was how this restaurant makes you feel. Itâs not just about food and drinks (though both are top-notch), itâs about the atmosphere of wholesome fun. Itâs the kind of spot where you can grab a drink, laugh with friends, and know youâre being taken care of. It feels like a meet-up with family, even if youâre just walking in for the first time.
If youâre in Portland and looking for great food, great drinks, and an amazing staff, The Chinese Cowboy is a must. Thanks again to Becky, Cody, and Bridget for making this such a memorable experience. Iâll definitely be backâand Iâll be bringing more...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience during a night out with some friends. The atmosphere was very open and welcoming and made us feel right at home. The service was friendly and the cocktails were delicious. I had the Jade Ryder (lychee, lime, ginger beer and chili oil) which was perfectly refreshing with just the right touch of spice. We grabbed some brisket fried rice and brisket sliders to share and all I have to say is wow! The fried rice was served with fried egg on top and was as tasty as it was beautifully presented. The chef delivered the sliders personally and described the new twist on the horseradish sauce that they were trying out- wasabi horseradish. I thought I loved horseradish before but then I tried the wasabi horseradish and it changed my world! Itâs so mouthwatering good that I will literally be dreaming about it forever. 10/10...
Read moreNot sure if we came in on an off day, but the brisket fried rice was super salty and oily, there was a visible puddle of oil in the bottom of the bowl. It was so salty that my friend and I barely ate half. Brisket was delicious, just wish it wasn't so oily and salty.
The soy garlic green beans was burnt, like there were solid burnt black bitter chunks the size of the green beans within and all over the plate. I usually enjoy a little bit of bitter crunch with my burnt ends, but this tasted like the crusts on the griddle.
The pulled pork sliders was the best of the 3 dishes we ordered, slaw was good, but still too salty.
Not sure if we came in on a bad day, maybe in the future I'd pay a revisit. Service was decent so I have nothing bad to say about the people...
