My experience with the Portland Maine location was a lot worse than the New Hampshire location. The music was very loud as well as the atmosphere. Not very sensory friendly. The dining area was clean and comfortable, and they had cool decorations. My positive feedback is that the vegan sausage was great, and I am glad that there are vegan options. The maple syrup that came with my blueberry pancakes was extremely sweet, too sweet for my liking. The pancakes were very dry but otherwise they were huge and the blueberries inside were fresh. My fiancé ordered eggs Benedict and chicken cordon bleu and the breakfast egg rolls. His egg rolls were very dry. The ham ends were left on the plate instead of discarded. His breakfast was overall dry and his home fries were moist, not crispy. Our waiter preselected his own tip before he gave us the digital option to sign for our receipt. He was also saying that if we knew what we ordered before we came in then we should have just said so the first time he came over to our table. But my fiancé is the one who knew what he wanted and I was still looking. He was not overly pleasing to deal with. He didn’t check to see if we were pleased with our meals either. The rates for food are overly priced and you have to pay 15$ for parking for 2 hours but we were only there for 20-30 minutes. Waste of money. We won’t be...
Read moreIt isn’t always easy to find a place that can accommodate a group of 8 for brunch-lunch on a Sunday. Having the wait list tool on line made all a lot simpler for our group. Having dined at other locations closer to home in Boston we knew the food options would be tasty and plentiful for all. The main incentive for this review was thanks to our terrific server, Sam M. In a city where almost everyone we meet is so friendly and engaging it could be a challenge to stand out, but have to say that Samantha made a great impression and was a pleasure to dine with. 8-10-24 Returned again during a visit to Portland. It was shortly before they close at 4. Hungry and with one nephew in tow we were hoping to score take out to take down to the pier. While many places might grit their teeth when folks walk in half hour before close, we were greeted with a big smile by our amazing server from our last visit, Samantha M. Sam puts the friend in...
Read moreOur fam loves the Friendly Toast for loads of reasons: fun, kid-friendly environment (and kids’ menu with crayons); huge rotating menu with lots of GF, vegetarian and vegan options; genuinely friendly waitstaff, great central location without long waits (we live on Peaks Island and it’s super close to the ferry terminal - a great spot to meet mainland friends!). They even bring “pup cups” of whipped cream for my sister’s miniature daschunds. But it was my experience today prompted me to finally write a review.
My mother had a seizure while we were having brunch today and the Friendly Toast staff were INCREDIBLE. One server is even a critical care nurse, so she was ON. IT. But we got so much support and compassion - from calling 911, making sure my mom was comfortable, ensuring we were supported and could make a quick getaway. It was the type of standout experience that has won my loyalty forever. Thank you for hiring...
