My favorite place in Portland to spend an afternoon or an evening. Always a welcoming environment and good conversations to be had, even if you go alone.
A great spot to go if you just moved to town. You’ll inevitably walk away with new friends. They have weekly events, great beer all of which is locally brewed and while they don’t have a kitchen, they usually have snacks of some kind and coffee, tea, etc., for those that aren’t looking to consume alcohol.
There’s also separate rooms for group meetings on the second floor, or if you just wanna play board game with your friends or have a political discussion with people you just met, away from the louder conversations that are happening at the bar, there’s comfy chairs and a very loungable vibe on the second floor of this 1900s Victorian house turned brew pub, complete with a library built-in, bathroom on the first floor. And if that weren’t enough, there’s always a couple house guitars floating around.
This is the kind of place that makes Portland what it is and I hope it never goes away.
If you were anti-DEI, you’re probably not gonna have a good time here and I would suggest looking for another spot. But everyone else...
Read moreJews be careful. Was staying at a hotel down the street. Stopped in for a coffee on a beautiful morning. It took the barista several minutes to serve me despite being only one person in the place besides her friend.
Went to the patio to have my coffee. I was followed out by the barista who was carrying a huge Palestinian flag, and she proceeded to wave it feet from my head (I was the only person on the large patio). It was so bizarre she felt the need to do that? I’m guessing it was her way of saying Jews don’t belong here. I did not have any conversation with her besides wishing her a good morning and ordering a coffee. I’m guessing her micro aggression was triggered because of my Star of David. I don’t care about her politics, just wanted to enjoy the morning… She had the entire patio to wave her flag but chose to do it right over me. Coffee was decent but the situation was so strange! So my drama for a coffee lol! ...
Read moreHidden gem. Tucked away on a busy corner in the Kern's neighborhood, this quaint little bar is housed in an old house. Two floors plus a basement. There is a conference space with a large round table and smaller rooms to have more intimate conversations. I ordered a pilsner and took advantage of the soul food truck (which by the way was delicious). Workers Tap doesn't serve any food, but you can bring outside food into the establishment. Near as I can tell there was just one bartender. He did a great job manage the...
