So went to this place to try mushroom coffee. Ordered chaga tea and a classic latte with shroom shot. I have mixed reviews on this.
First of all the menu is confusing. The signature lattes here do not have espresso shot at all. I dont understand how it’s called a latte without espresso in it. We had to change our order as the person who took our order told that there’s no espresso in it ( we got to know this only after looking at the charges during the checkout as an extra charge of 1.5$ was added ). The person who took our order just asked if we want an espresso shot, but she never mentioned that the default latte doesn’t come with the espresso in it until we asked her about the extra charge. So we changed it to regular latte with a mushroom blend shot. It tasted excellent. This is my first time trying mushroom coffee and it is a pretty good experience.
For the Chaga tea: She explained that it is a mushroom blend and it is just going to be like black tea with no milk. So I ordered that. After tasting it, honestly it has no taste and its super bland. It’s like drinking extra hot water. So I asked another girl (not the person who took our order) that the tea was bland and it tastes like nothing. She explained that it’s just mushroom extract it is going to be tasteless. I told her that we weren’t informed that before ordering. So she said she would do a complimentary exchange on the drink and asked what we wanted. For some reason she decides to talk the other person who took our order and came back saying that the barista already explained you that it’d be tasteless, so they would not swap the drink. I am fine with them not swapping my drink at all, but them claiming that everything was explained before when they clearly did not was not at all a good customer service. I would not go back here.
For the protein pancakes: they are good for someone who likes...
Read moreMy friends and I enjoy this café, but today’s service with one of the baristas (Masha) left us upset and disappointed. No greeting. When our group entered and approached the counter, there was no acknowledgment at all. Unexplained wait. Despite the café being nearly empty, five of us stood by the register for over 10 minutes just to place an order. After gently trying to get some attention, the only response we got was, “I’ll be with you in a minute,” which turned into much longer. After that, it took another 35 minutes to receive our sandwiches and drinks. A simple heads-up about the delay would have allowed us to decide whether to stay. Dismissive response to a concern. When three identical drinks came out visibly inconsistent (see picture) — one with about half the coffee — the only explanation given was, “The coffee machine does the same job every time.” That brushed off a legitimate question instead of addressing it. Unprofessional comments. After I said to my friends, “It seems we’re not welcome here,” there was no acknowledgment. Instead, one of us overheard Masha telling another customer that we didn’t get that the barista was overwhelmed. This felt disrespectful.
I understand service can be stressful when short-staffed, and I’m always patient with delays. But in this case, the lack of communication, passive responses, and side comments made us feel more like a burden than guests.
This could have been avoided with basic acknowledgment, honest wait-time estimates, and professional communication. I’m sharing this because I do like this café and want to see the...
Read moreThe space has such a cute aesthetic with plenty of seating, which is always something I worry about when trying new coffee shops. Whether you're going solo or with a big group, you won’t have to stress about finding a spot—unless they’re really busy, of course.
The owners are incredibly kind and clearly passionate about what they do. I’ve always loved mushroom coffee for its health and brain benefits, so I was already a fan. I ordered an ashwagandha latte with a mushroom blend shot and avocado toast—everything was fairly priced, especially considering the high-quality ingredients. So don’t be surprised by the prices of drinks; you’re literally fueling your body and brain with what they deserve!
I wasn’t going to mention this, because I don’t want people to expect it when supporting small businesses, but I was having an off day and just needed some peace and quiet. The guy who took my order came over to update me about the wait time for my food—not that I ever mind waiting—but I appreciated the transparency. Then, he surprised me with a dessert on the house, which completely changed my mood and helped me decompress after feeling overstimulated all day. I can’t stress this enough—please do not come in here or any place expecting this when you are SUPPORTING local small businesses. I just wanted to highlight the kindness, because it honestly felt like they just knew I needed a little pick-me-up.
Overall, this is officially my new favorite coffee shop. I live in Vancouver, but I’ll gladly make the drive whenever I can to...
