Yuri's Desserts — Restaurant in Portland

Wow! What an honor it is to get to be the first person to leave a 5-star review for this wonderful bakery! I discovered them on Instagram a few months ago, before they opened their Portland location, and just couldn't wait try one of their desserts! I'd been hoping for a Korean-style bakery to come to Portland since we usually can only find bakeries like this in bigger cities like Boston and Montréal. We love how fresh and not overly sweet these desserts are. Not to mention absolutely beautiful! I was lucky enough to be able to place a custom order with Yuri through Instagram. She and her husband were so kind and professional. The fresh cream and fruit cake I ordered was ready on time, and pick-up was very easy. The cake was beautifully packaged with care and transported very well. We couldn't wait to try it later that evening and were blown away by the incredible flavor, light, airy texture, and just the overall quality. I've never had a more fresh-tasting cake! We dined in. Service was friendly, and quick. I asked if the macarons were gluten free. The ingredients are gluten free in the ones I tried pistachio, raspberry, and blueberry. I didn’t ask about any strict cross contamination issues. I also did notice that they have made them in the past with Oreo cookies sprinkled in for special occasions, so I would check on the gluten free status before trying them if that is a concern. But that aside they were perfect!! Texture & flavor was exactly how a macaron should be. My daughter had the strawberry and cream croissant not something she normally would have chosen, but it looked so good. It did not disappoint. She actually got it again the next time she went. The space is very open, and can accommodate a bigger group. We had a large table with 4 that could have fit at least 8 in the other room near a big sunny window. Definitely a new favorite break spot. Could have used my sunglasses or a shade as the sun started to bake in on us, but a little extra vitamin d might be good...

Second time going today, and I will say, both times have been complete hits! Last time we got their macaroons, a strawberry croissant & some coffee, all amazing & full of flavor! Today we got the strawberry shaved ice, strawberry latte and red bean & cream donut, all were delicious. The shaved ice was beautiful and the consistency was so unique, very light and fluffy. I was surprised with how well balanced the sweetness was! The red bean donut was quite good as well, I wasn’t sure as it was my first red bean dessert but it was amazing! No “bean-y” taste, just yummy smooth sweetness. Last was the latte, admittedly we were quite full by the time we got to it but it was so creamy and the strawberry flavor was so well blended in that it kept having us coming back for it! Great atmosphere & overall just a great location....
