I visited with a friend Sunday 1/26/25.
Business is slow, maybe one or two people were in there. Upon arriving they told us right away to sit wherever I wanted to.
The host was prompt, the waitress was prompt, did a few table touches which I appreciate and recognize.
Little confusing to understand the refill policy they willfully did one no problem, the second one they kind of was willful.
Start it out with chicken fingers and fried mushroom. Hung out for a while, then decided to do some chili and soup . Which came out good so for the most part they did okay, third refills on our drinks started to sound like they were doing us a favor.
If they have a refill policy they shouldn't be afraid to let us know. At least that's what it seemed.
So for my impression of the day customer service was fundamentally sound.
So you're probably asking yourself why the three star if food was good and customer service was fundamentally sound?
The restroom, side note forgive me of my directness but I had to use the toilet and there was no toilet paper dispenser or toilet paper available. I had to use paper towels .
Reported it to the waitress emphasized that it was unfortunate that there was no toilet paper, then re-emphasized that it was unfortunate that there was no toilet paper dispensary either. She told some guy that I'm guessing a co-owner and from a distance over heard along the line of "oops meant to install it the other day and I forgot".
Really?
In prairie du chien the "Hungry House" name brand is very popular and has been in the community for a really long time.
it's unfortunate that some reports before me and this observation that the "Hungry House" name is not doing too well as its legendary predecessors have done for the brand name.
So dear reader I encourage one or two trips and discern for yourself.
Would I return? Maybe but well definitely confirm that the restroom is...
Read moreNo stars would be very nice right now. I used to love this place. My mom, sister and I would come here all of the time for breakfast. Hungry house was our breakfast spot, but now it’s nothing like it used to be. I call to place an order and I said the whole order three times and she asked me to repeat it a fourth time and still messed up. I ordered the double up platter. It comes with two eggs, two bacon, two sausage, hash browns, and French toast or pancakes. I wanted two eggs over easy, all bacon no sausage, hash browns with cheese and pancakes. My sister got the same exact order except she wanted sausage and bacon as well as French toast. We waited 20 minutes for our order to get done and drove all the way there to get the food and then back home. When we sit down to eat, we open our boxes, my hash browns have onions on them and my eggs were over medium, no yolk. I also open my “pancake” box and it was French toast, didn’t even get my pancakes. My sister’s hash browns had nothing on them when she asked for cheese and her eggs were the same as mine. Then we go back and tell them what was wrong and they are about to make the order new but he wasn’t going to give me my 4 strips of bacon because I had eaten 2 pieces on the drive back to this place because they messed up and I was hungry so I thought I had a right to eat what was going to the garbage anyway, right? Not right. He was going to have them make my food with only two strips. After we sat there and he told me they were making it again, I asked for a complimentary cup of coffee and he said no. I then asked why I couldn’t receive a free cup of coffee for time and money I’ve spent and having to drive two times to this restaurant for your employees mistakes, and he just didn’t care about my time. I even said time is money right and he replied yes my time is money, so is mine buddy. You won’t be getting money from my...
Read moreI recently visited Wisconsin for work, a quick trip of just two days and one night. As a Texan unaccustomed to the cold, I found myself craving something warm and comforting to eat.
That’s when I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant, and I’m so glad I walked in. From the moment I stepped through the door, everyone was incredibly friendly. The waitress mentioned that the owners were introducing Vietnamese dishes to the menu, which immediately caught my attention.
I decided to try the pho with brisket and tendon, and it was nothing short of incredible. The broth was crystal clear, aromatic, and packed with rich flavor—it was perfect in every way!
I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and the cook, and I was thrilled to learn the cook had worked at some of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Houston, Texas. She shared that she boils the broth for over 16 hours, and you can absolutely taste the dedication and expertise in every sip.
This restaurant was such a delightful surprise, and I can’t wait to return whenever I’m back in the area. If you’re looking for authentic and delicious Vietnamese food, I wholeheartedly...
