Not sure how people classify this as good sushi, maybe they don't know any better...
We have frequented quite a few sushi places around town, and this is by far the worst. My wife and I both ordered two rolls and miso soup. The miso was great and came out quickly, but it took a solid 25 minutes for our rolls (no they weren't that busy). The rolls were poorly rolled, loose, and inconsistent between the pieces. My wife had ordered a california roll and a shrimp crunch. Both had avocado, but the avocado in the shrimp crunch was smeared and pouring out the ends. When I asked the waitress to return it, the manager then wanted to come over and berate us over how we were wrong and then tried to give us a sushi lesson. Even when I said "we just want it done right" he continued to go on and on. The waitress offered to have it redone, and my wife just asked for two california rolls. When they came out 10 mins later, there was one california roll and one cucumber roll. Both were overly sweet, and her rolls and mine had no distinctive flavor from any of the ingredients. At that point we just got our bill and left. While the manager did take her order off the bill, how condescending he was and the fact that he wouldn't stop pointing out that we didn't seem to know sushi, and the fact that despite that, even the sushi was horrible (I've had better from the grocery store), we would never go back. The manager Mike is enough to shut that business down, which is sad because the waitresses...
Read moreI am never the person to give a bad review but this time I have to make an exception. It went downhill as soon as I walked in. As soon as I realized the floors were nasty and sticky, I should've turned around and left. There were 4 empty booths but took 10m for someone to wipe off the table with a soured rag. Then another 20m to take my order. I ordered some kind of prattville special which described it having crab meat and shrimp. Sounded good and even looked good but did not taste pleasant whatsoever. Parts of the sushi was slightly warm and other parts were ice cold. But the bigger shocker was that it wasn't even real crab. They used a thin slice of that horrible imitation crab and wrapped it around the sushi and had 1 small shrimp on eat side of the plate. I've eaten sushi several times in my life and this was not sushi. This was horrible. I've never in 47 years of my life ever complained about the food at a restaurant but I couldn't even finish one sushi. So to prevent myself from saying something I'd regret and making a scene, I handed my credit card to my girlfriend and asked if she minded paying the bill and I made my way to the filthy bathroom to puke then out the door and never looked back. I'm still not sure what the bill was but whatever they charged me I assure you it was not worth it. I will never make that mistake again. Do yourself a favor and if you're craving sushi...
Read moreI found a favorite place for fusion sushi rolls in the area! Good service, calm atmosphere, staff are kind.
My husband ordered the teriyaki steak meal, while I ordered the "Prattville" roll. Portion sizes were good! I love fusion/non-classical rolls, but haven't been able to find any good ones in the area. Not your typical suped up California. It was perfectly filled with shrimp, avocado, and fish. The topping also was not scarce with spicy tuna and Krab on top ensues flavor with every bite. 5/5
Also had the salmon sashimi appetizer. $4 more. The salmon was very flavorful and tasted fresh. No slime, no "fishy" smell. Average softness. I thing that I found disappointing is in two pieces of sashimi I bit into something kinda hard. At first I thought it was bone, but after I removed it from my mouth it seemed to be skin/fat. Flavor is 5/5, but softness I would rate a 3/5. Would still recommend the sashimi, but with some reservations.
Update: I just had their tuna/salmon poke bowl. It was great! The base starts at $15 but really ends up being closer to $17-18 when you put the toppings on. I was not at all disappointed in the quality. The topping options are not limited, but not extensive either. Portion sizes are good. Rice is soft and flavorful. They use actual sushi rice which makes a world of difference! The only thing I wish they had was crab salad as a...
