My husband and I chose to have our small wedding reception dinner at The Peacock Dining Room last Friday. We couldn’t have picked a better restaurant! During the planning process, I called the restaurant several times to ask questions & to get info. Vanessa & Kevin were friendly and helpful when I called. (We live in PHX, so it was a little more challenging to plan our wedding festivities.) We drove up to Prescott to see the restaurant a couple weeks before our wedding. Brianna was kind & helpful and showed us the semi-private room we would be dining in. A week before the wedding, we met with Vanessa (the manager) and she explained everything in detail. The day before the wedding, we stopped in to drop off our cake and Vanessa was there to help us. She let us choose the color of linens & napkins for our reception and asked for our input on how the room should be arranged. She was flexible and understanding. She even offered to buy us flowers for the table & said we could reimburse her later which was nice. However, we decided to use our bouquets from the ceremony. On our wedding day, my husband dropped off some more items for our reception and Kevin offered to help him unload the car. The reception dinner was wonderful. Brianna was our lead server and she was excellent. She was so nice, easy-going & attentive. We never felt like we were being rushed, even though we were there for a while. I had the house salad (iceberg wedge) which was delicious but a little hard for me to eat. I also ordered the Atlantic salmon and it was fantastic. I let our servers know that I have a dairy & egg allergy & the chef was able to modify the entree for me. My husband ordered the grilled chicken Alfredo and he loved it. All of our guests seemed very happy with their entrees. The prices were reasonable and the portion size was generous. We had a special “guestbook” that we wanted to surprise my parents with. My husband asked the staff to bring it out at a specific time, and Brianna did just that. It was a perfect & memorable moment for my family. The staff was very careful with handling our wedding cake and cupcakes. Both were displayed beautifully. We especially enjoyed our apple cider toast. An employee named Brian filmed the toast for us which was awesome. He also helped us carry stuff out to the car after dinner. The only (small) issue we had was with the music. It was a bit hard to hear each other at times that night. There was a live folk band playing in the bar. During the planning process, we were told that if the band got too loud, we could let our servers know. We ended up telling the servers that the music was a bit too loud. The band did seem to get a little quieter initially. There was a mesh partition separating our room from the bar & I think a solid partition would help more with the sound. On a positive note, we loved the background music that played during the band’s breaks. It was perfect for the occasion. We asked Kevin if we could leave our cake in their freezer for a couple days because we couldn’t store it at our hotel. He said it was no problem. When we picked up the cake, he offered to re-box it so that it would fit into our cooler. He was super helpful and he said he was glad we had such a great time there. I would highly recommend The Peacock Dining Room. We can’t wait to go back! If you are looking for a wedding reception venue in Prescott, check out this restaurant! We loved the 1927 room. Our party was only 12 guests, but the room can definitely hold more people. The staff and atmosphere...
Read moreWe made reservations at the Peacock Room to celebrate Mother’s Day with our wives. A group of six. We arrived and checked in before the scheduled reservation at 12:45. That is when the entire experience became a major failure. We were seated a few minutes late which was understandable because it was busy. The room where we were seated in was underwhelming at best. The table setting was sloppy. We had to move two broken chairs, 3 menus for 6 people that appeared tossed on the table along with the napkin/utensils. No water. After approximately 20 minutes the hostess came to our table to let us know that she had forgotten to let the server know we were there. Finally someone brought us water. Shortly after that a server arrived with a less than convincing apology for the wait. She asked if we were ready to order our meals. We let her know that we wanted to have 3 separate bills. It was apparent that she was rushed, but acknowledged the separate billing. We placed our orders, she turned to leave when we asked her if we could get iced teas. After another unreasonable delay the iced teas arrived with a small bowl of sloppily sliced lemon. It has now been over an hour since we sat down. We caught the attention of a server to request more water and iced tea. After another wait more tea and water arrived. The tea turned out to be something that tasted like flat cola. It took several minutes to get someone’s attention before we were able to bring the tea issue to their attention. The server apologized and replaced the teas. One of our party went to the reception desk to find out about the delay in our meal. He was told that we we next up from the kitchen. Shortly after our server came by apologizing for the delay and let us know that our meals were being plated and would be out in a few minutes. Shortly after that another server came to our table with a piece of coffee cake on a plate saying that our primary server sent it because of the delay. Interesting because we had just been told it would be only a few minutes before our meals were to be served. We passed the plate around the table to share the piece coffee cake. Another unbelievable amount of time passed and still no meal. Over 2 hours had now passed. We got up a left. No one approached us. We stopped by the hotel front desk to let the clerk know what had happened. He was sympathetic, but didn’t offer to get the restaurant manager. He gave us a business card of the general manager who could put us in touch with the restaurant manager. To say this was a disappointing experience is an understatement. It was simply horrible service and certainly put a damper on celebration of Mother’s Day...
Read moreWe love staying at Hassayampa Inn but their restaurant, The Peacock Room, is such a mixed bag. We had reservations for brunch at 10:30 am and everything from the service to seating was rather slow and methodical. Took a while just to be acknowleded at the host station. Then they had to “prepare” our table. I guess they weren't expecting us to show up. Anyway, their prep did not include cleaning the chairs. I had to wipe off what appeared to be some parmesan cheese. Maybe the previous diners had a Caesar salad. I don't know. Some of it was on the floor too.
I ordered a glass of champagne and after about 25 minutes wondered where it was. Not sure what happened but I eventually got it. I ordered an Omelet with ham, green chiles and asadero cheese. It was outstanding. I recall from a previous visit that their hash browns are woefully undercooked so I asked for “crispy, well done”. It looked as if the cook just dumped a handful of frozen hash browns into the deep fryer! What I received was literally a pile of fried match stick potatos that I could barely keep on my fork.
My son had the Southwest Burrito and he loved it! Looked great smothered with a green chile sauce. The burrito was huge and filled with chorizo and eggs. He remarked how richly flavored and nicely spicy it was. My wife had the Lemon Soufflee Pancakes. Not sure where the “souffle” part comes in but they were rather flat. One of the pancakes was quite undercooked in the center. She had the meal subbed out for a simple order of scrambled eggs and hash browns. She didn't request “crispy” and sure enough they came out quite pale and raw tasting in the center.
This restaurant is really beautiful with a magnificent and historic art deco vibe. The service overall is pretty average which is a sad mismatch for this unique establishment. No one seemed to have any sense of urgency or personality. Your mileage may vary with the food. It definitely depends on what you order here. I can tell you they do eggs well and...
