My mother recently brought her computer to this shop. I had originally built the system for her, but I wasn't available to assist at the time. Given the many positive reviews, I had expected a higher standard of service—but unfortunately, her experience left us quite disappointed.

To be clear, the issue with the system was a corrupted Windows installation—not a faulty hard drive.

First, if the actual problem was software-related and not hardware-related, it’s concerning that this wasn’t properly diagnosed.

Second, if no meaningful work was done on the machine, charging for the service feels unjustified—especially if the system wasn’t thoroughly examined.

Third, and most importantly, she was advised to purchase a new hard drive even though the current one was brand new, recently tested, and functioning properly. That recommendation felt unnecessary and misleading.

Frankly, I’m unsure what kind of assessment was done, but it should have been fairly straightforward to identify a corrupted OS. Given our experience, I would urge others to be cautious and make sure they fully understand the nature of any diagnosis or recommendation provided.

As an additional note: she later brought the system to Best Buy, where they immediately identified the issue and resolved it without any trouble.

Edit: I see they responded. As a follow-up, it sounds like you're suggesting this may only be a temporary solution. That said, the drive has been working without issue for over two weeks now, and it hasn’t shown any signs of failure—despite their initial insistence that the drive was the problem. As I mentioned earlier, the fix ended up being a clean OS install.

If the drive wasn’t showing on your system, was it checked to ensure it was properly seated or recognized in the BIOS? Just to clarify, it had been tested before being sent to my mother and had worked on two other systems before being installed in hers.

You might say more time is needed to be certain the drive won’t fail, and that’s fair. But honestly, if it were truly failing, I think more issues would have surfaced by now.

My concern is more about the impression that was left. I’m not sure if it was just a misstep or if there was some miscommunication, but in either case, I’d simply suggest double-checking everything before recommending replacements. Firstly, I'm not one that typically leaves reviews whether they be good or not so good. But I had to make an exception for the guys (and ladies, though I didn't see any) at Tech Rehab. I sent my daughter in to repair a cracked screen on her phone. After shopping around, I discovered they had the best deal available, even though I have insurance through my cell carrier, they still offered a way better deal. We were happy with the results. A few months later, and this is the main reason I am writing a review, I had an issue with a brand new Apple lap top. Best Buy wanted to take my lap top, send it away for repairs and gave me an estimate of a three week wait. I wasn't thrilled with this option so off to Tech Rehab I went to see what solutions they could offer. Chris was the employee that I dealt with and this guy knows his stuff! It came down to two options. One cost around $250. The second option cost $35 but only if he was able to track down the parts he needed. Chris made phone calls on my behalf and he wasn't having any luck finding the parts. I realize and appreciate that he must have spent a good amount of his valuable time making these calls. He kept at it and he finally managed to track down the parts needed to fix my lap top in New York. I fully realize that he didn't need to do this, yet he went out of his way to do so. Chris went way above and beyond to help me out and I truly appreciate that he did so. The cherry on top? I kept my lap top while waiting for the parts to arrive which only took a week by mail. He called me when the parts arrived, I brought my lap top in, and the actual repair took about ten minutes. My sincere thanks to you Chris! My husband and I had built a custom computer a few years back, and noticed a beeping noise when it would boot up. The computer was also running a little slow, we called nerdy neighbors and got a hold of Mike, we told him what was happening with the computer, so we dropped off the computer for them to look at, the price for looking at it was not bad, they called me after a couple days, and asked if I could bring them the power cord sense it was an odd one that they didn't have, so I dropped it off and the next day we got an update on the computer issues, turned out it was running on a drive that wasn't a solid state so it was having a hard time speed wise. Mike and his partner also found that the motherboard had some corrupting in it so they fixed it and we also ordered a new solid state, they put that in and then they had to clone the information and programming to the new solid state. It took a couple tries to clone but eventually it did clone. The price for the new solid state was very reasonable and after all the work, I got to pick up the computer after a week and a half, we got the computer home and plugged it in that evening to see how it ran. We were really happy that there was no more beeping, and the computer runs a lot faster, over all the guys at nerdy neighbors did an amazing job, we highly recommend going with these guys for your computer needs, they are very knowledgeable and professional and also really nice to work with.
