You have to go here if you come to Prescott! It's like a FUN history class on the Pioneer Days. Your Saturday night begins by taking you back in time over 200 years ago the moment you push through the saloon double swing doors to see much of the original bar. This was is the oldest saloon in AZ, and might be the oldest first business in AZ all together. You cannot help yourself from smiling ear to ear while sipping whiskey cocktails and listening to boot stomping Country classics that even us city folk don't realize ya know. Be very aware that some establishments here are cash only. While this is labeled on the entryway, this isn't something people normally stop to check for. So after they've poured your drink and you try to pay with your card they point to their private ATM which charges an additional fee which the establishment collects. I don't have a problem paying cash I just don't normally carry it and would have appreciated being told prior to the drinks being poured that it was cash only. Whiskey Row Alley is fun. They have recently made it more inviting by better lighting at night, murals and a big wrought-iron arch over the entrance to the alley inviting people in. Downtown Prescott is steeped in history and the alley used to be dark and a little spooky looking...until one evening in October my wife and I did a walking ghost tour in the downtown area. It was fun and interesting and there was history even in the alleyways that we didn't know about. The alley behind Whiskey Row didn't seem spooky anymore, but inviting.
