My husband, son, and I dined here for my birthday on Saturday, December 7th at 6:00 PM. We had never been before but had heard great things. Itās an Italian restaurant on the Hill, so we figured it would be a safe bet. We valet parked, were greeted by a very friendly host, and seated right away.
The ambiance was exactly what I was hoping for ā warm, cozy, and intimate with booths instead of tables. It felt inviting and comfortable. We started with calamari and drinks, and the service at that point was excellent. My husband ordered pasta with sausage and meatballs, my son chose a steak, and I went with the lobster casserole special.
Unfortunately, after finishing the delicious calamari, things took a disappointing turn. We waited longer than expected for our meals, which wouldāve been fine if the food was worth the wait ā but it wasnāt.
The lobster casserole was bland and soupy, and the vegetables on my plate arrived ice cold. Even after adding salt, there was no saving it. My son barely touched his steak, which is very unusual for him. When I tried a bite, I understood why ā it was tough, lacked seasoning, and the texture was just... off. My husbandās pasta dish was forgettable, and I couldnāt bring myself to try the sausage after seeing it.
It felt like no one in the kitchen was tasting the food before sending it out, which was frustrating given the restaurant's reputation. Sending back three meals didnāt seem worth the trouble, but in a place like this, quality control should be a priority.
While the service and atmosphere were lovely, the disappointing entrees overshadowed everything. We left regretting that we hadnāt just gone to Cassarinoās, where weāve never had a bad meal. Theyāve set a standard weāve come to trust ā and their calamari is still the best on the Hill...

The food was outstanding. I had the Ravioloni con Brasato which was cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite of our appetizer and entrees was delicious, but what elevated the entire evening was the impeccable service.
From the moment we stepped out of our vehicle, the staff made our son feel like a VIP. The valet greeted him with a warm compliment on his suit and tie, and the manager, who led us to our table, did the same. Itās clear that Camilleās staff go above and beyond to make every guest feel special, regardless of age.
Our server, Scott, was exceptional - one of the best waiters weāve had at any restaurant. He treated our son as the man of the table. Scott's thoughtful touches, like serving our son a flute of ginger ale to join in our champagne toast, made him feel included and important in this elegant atmosphere. He also recommended the perfect meals and wine pairings, and the pace of the meal was flawless. Our glasses were never empty, plates were promptly cleared, and the table remained spotless throughout our dinner. To top it all off, Scott surprised us with a beautiful birthday dessert.
Scottās professionalism, attention to detail, and warm demeanor truly set Camilleās apart. He is a remarkable asset to their team, and we are so grateful for the wonderful experience he provided for this special occasion.

From the 1st POC to saying fairwell, the staff at Camilles went above and beyond to ensure the my partners parents 50th Wedding Anniversary was truly a magical experience. We had looked at many places in Providence, who btw, were unwilling to accommodate a private room for 10 on a Saturday. Camilles literally gave us one of their best rooms, best sever JAMES and allowed me to bring in my own large centerpiece, loads of pictures we restored, and a special cake I ordered from another place. When I say the staff and meals were above any place we've dinned (which is a ton bc we live in downtown Boston). Food was a bit over portioned but you really can't complain about, seriously... Try thier grilled octopus salad, chared perfectly and just the right amount of lemon vinegar. I can't stand when a salad is over dressed bc what are you hidding than... Everyone had all different dishes paired with wine (which my glass was always properly filled). It was truly a special experience for such a special couple, on thier big special day!!! George and Dave seriously know how to treat each guest as the only ones who have walked threw thier door, with thier exceptional staff and team, to the charm of an old world Italian Restaurant in Federal Hill. We are so pleased and I will certainly be hosting another event there and or drop in for dinner when in RI. Thank you again for all you've done. We truly appreciate all your kindness and efforts.
