I can’t say enough about the fantastic experience I had at The Malted Barley. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the tone for a memorable visit. The star of the show, undoubtedly, was the freshly made pretzels that were an absolute treat. The aroma alone was enough to make my mouth water, and the taste exceeded all expectations. What truly impressed me was the diverse range of dipping options available, each one a flavor journey in its own right. From savory to sweet, there was something for every palate. The attention to detail didn’t stop at the pretzels themselves. The thought put into the variations and options showcased a dedication to providing a comprehensive and delightful experience. Whether you’re a fan of classic flavors or seeking something more adventurous, The Malted Barley has you covered. I found myself exploring combinations I hadn’t even thought of before, and it made the experience all the more exciting. Beyond the culinary offerings, the staff played a significant role in making my visit exceptional. Their knowledge and enthusiasm were evident, and their recommendations added an extra layer of enjoyment to my time there. It’s clear that they take pride in what they do and are committed to ensuring every guest has a fantastic time. Overall, The Malted Barley exceeded my expectations in every way. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression, and I can’t wait to return to continue my culinary journey through their menu. If you’re looking for a place that combines great food, a welcoming ambiance, and a variety of options to suit your taste, this is it. A big thank you to The Malted Barley for a truly outstanding experience!

I've never been here before. Friends of mine I came with have come here before and liked it. I saw craft beer and I was sold. It has a nice ambiance to the place. I couldn't figure out the QR coaster for the menu... yeah, no. They have boardgames and such. Our server Heather was ✨✨MAGICAL!✨✨ I felt that way before I was intoxicated and I REALLY felt that way after, too! The kind of person you could hang out with doing ABSOLUTELY nothing and say WE HAD A TIIIIIIIIME TONIGHT...officer!!!😂 I got drinks I had never drank before based on their name alone, since Kentucky Bourbon Ale is my top tier. Why get something I already know? I got a flight of Malted Barley, Magic Hands, Brett Noir and Cinnamon Toastie to start. I really liked the Malted Barley and Cinnamon Toastie. The 2nd flight I liked the Black Widow best and I think I ended up getting a fancy glass of just that alone, too after. Can't tell you more about the drinks and such, I became pleasantly buzzed and HAD to tell the manager how nice his beard was. He said he made it himself!😂 I was intoxicated, but fully aware of "Don't Be Creepy" factor. But everyone CAN'T GROW ONE, I respect the accomplishment! I had the Meatball Pretzel sandwich and it was a surprising taste of flavors. Wouldn't have thought to do these myself, but I'm....open to it. I love meatball subs, I love pretzels, I loved this. We had a waffle with ice cream for dessert and had a great time. Y'all, water is your friend. I knew before I began drinking to DRINK WATER. I was ultimately buzzed, not drunk. Will definitely return!

I had a very upsetting experience at this brewery during a short visit to Providence before my flight. Because I didn’t have much time, I asked one of the servers if he could recommend a good dark beer from their selection. He refused to help and threw a coaster toward me and told me to scan the QR code myself to see the menu. I felt his tone and attitude dismissive right from the beginning. I ordered a 4 oz pour of a dark beer. He double-checked with me, asking, “4 oz?” — and I clearly confirmed. However, he brought me a 12 oz pour instead, and I was charged for the full 12 oz. I didn’t realize the size mistake at first and had taken one or two sips when I noticed the receipt. When I asked about the charge, he dramatically apologized in an exaggerated, almost sarcastic manner. It didn’t feel genuine at all — more like he was mocking me. He then told me not to leave a tip and slammed the receipt in front of me. I asked if the charge could be corrected to reflect the 4 oz I actually ordered, but he said no because I had already started drinking it — even though I had barely touched it. He then slammed the menu board behind me loudly, adding to the tension and discomfort. Throughout the interaction, he repeatedly said, “Sorry?” in a tone that felt like he was mocking my pronunciation. I couldn’t help but feel there was a layer of passive aggression or microaggression behind his words and actions. It was incredibly uncomfortable, and I left the place feeling disrespected and humiliated. I had been looking forward to trying a local Providence brewery, but this experience completely ruined it.

Atmosphere: 4 We got there at 9:00PM for dinner, and it was super noisy inside. I understand that it's a bar-restaurant, but something about the acoustics inside makes the sound bounce around a lot. The restaurant has tons of seating and a sizable bar as well. Their menu is on their coasters - use your phones to bring it up with the QR code! Plating/Portion: 5 I ordered their house salad and soup du jour. My salad portion was huge! The salad was plated with colorful vegetables, dried cranberries, mandarin slices, etc. I shared the bowl of soup with my husband, and the soup was packed with ingredients. Flavors: 5 The vinaigrette for the salad is light and perfectly complements the rest of the salad ingredients. The soup and salad comes with pretzel croutons which is awesome. It added a nice crunch to the salad. Since the restaurant has so many pretzel dishes, I thought it was really creative that they found a way to include the pretzel in their salad and soup as well. My husband ordered the pretzel stuffed with gouda and chipotle paired with the pesto aioli sauce. I tried a bite and it was delicious. The flavors were well balanced and delicious! Definitely worth going!

An incredible venue with a vast selection of beers (mostly from New England) and incredibly helpful staff. The pretzels they make cannot be beat--it was suggested to us to try the jalapeno and cheddar stuffed pretzel paired with the apricot butter and it was out of this world! That combo alone will keep me coming back forever. We also had the asiago and parmesan pretzel paired with the beard cheese and for meals I had the house salad and my fellow diners had the meatball sandwich (in patty form) and the burger--everything was delicious! Sadly, they were out of chicken for me to add to my salad. There are always so many beers on draft and I'd like to follow The Malted Barley on Untappd to be able to see what new beers are coming in for me to try next. I noticed a large order of pretzels for catering takeout and now I know what I will be bringing to all future events. Saw a sign for trivia on Mondays at 7:00 p.m., I can't wait to go back soon to play and to try more of their pretzel options and awesome beers.

Went for the first time on a Wednesday evening for trivia. I first ordered a hot chocolate which was pretty bad. Doing something as simple as making the drink with milk instead of water would elevate it tenfold. For my meal I ordered the steak and cheese and the caprese sandwiches priced at $15 and $13, respectively. Both sandwiches were mediocre. The steak was chewy and I couldn't taste the onions, mushrooms, or cheese because the garlic aioli overpowered everything. The caprese ingredients just didn't work as a pretzel sandwich. The simple freshness that makes caprese enjoyable was lost especially because the mozzarella felt low quality. In addition, both sandwiches were small and the default bag of chips they come with felt lazy (the alternatives being a $4 bowl of soup or a $6 side salad!). Overall, I felt like the food was not worth the price and the execution can be improved. I had a great time at trivia night with my friends and maybe that's the point of coming here; not the sandwiches.
