By far one of the worst service I have received in awhile. The pizza was decent, but a place is made by the costumer service. The waiter was incompetent, practically insinuating I did not read the menu properly and apologizing in a way that added fuel to the fire. Ordered a make your pizza which was not clearly marked on the menu that the pizza is $15 base price and each add on was $2.5 (that part was clear. So for a pizza consisting of bread sauce and 4 veggies, the price was $25. Definitely not a vegan/vegetarian friendly place. You will pay more for a pizza then your meat and cheese counterparts. The manager did not come out at first when asked to speak to him and instead tried to make it better by taking a few dollars off, total now $19.50. For a person new to the area and never eaten there before, there was new true effort to remedy the situation and make me want to come back. The menu is very unclear with the build your own pizza with no base price next to it, and the waiter did not mention. You don’t know what you don’t know. I would never recommend this establishment and recommend corporate reassess management and employee duties. Icing on the cake was having the wrong pizza packaged and given to me and now I have pizza left overs I can’t eat and payed 19.50 for a couple slices of over...
Read moreAs a New Yorker, I'm pretty picky with my pizza. That said, Providence Coal Fired Pizza is a really great place. The restaurant itself looks good and has a nice, casual & modern atmosphere. The staff was very nice and friendly. As for the pizza itself, it was very good. The crust wasn't too thick as tends to be the case with a lot of these places and the ingredients all seemed reasonably fresh and of good quality. They're oddly shaped (a weird oval looking thing with square slices), but that doesn't really detract from anything. While they had crushed red pepper and parmesan cheese available, they didn't have any oregano or garlic powder, which was unfortunate.
Surprisingly, the real star of the meal was their coal fired wings. Seasoned with salt and pepper, heaped with fried onions, then cooked in the same coal fired ovens as the pizza, these wings are an absolute delight. If we weren't so full after our meal, we would have gotten another order! These are a can't miss item here. Speaking of can't miss items, try the butterscotch pudding for dessert. It's...
Read moreAs far as cola fired pizza goes this place is great, but where they really excel are the grilled chicken wings! I haven't had wings this good in a while, and I could even pretend like I was being healthy while I ate them!
If you are going to come here there's a few things to keep in mind, first it fills up fast during peak hours, call ahead! Second parking is a bit of a bear, I recommend seeing if they're doing free valet, they were when we went.
The thin crust pizza here is pretty bomb and I enjoyed the pepperoni but their specialty pizzas that had the house made sausage on it were mind blowing! The only thing that stopped this place from being five stars was parts of the pizza weren't 100% crisped and the pizza wasn't overly filling (I also hadn't eaten all day and am a bit of an overeater at times to be fair).
This place is especially nice because of the short walk to PPAC if a show is going on.
If you're looking for some pizza and are in the area I would stop by, even if it is out of your way. It's kind of a no brainier go to if...
