I wanted to be excited about this, but it was kind of a mess. Seemed like there was only one waitress and one bartender working for the whole restaurant. We waited 20-30 minutes to get seated even though there were tons of tables open. When we were sat and went to order drinks, the waitress immediately started with“it’s going to take a while for drinks…what do you want to drink?”we all just ordered draft beers hoping it would be quicker than the elaborate espresso martini “towers” on the menu and the waitress agreed. After another 10-15 mins of waiting for the beers, we put in apps then some wiener towers. We watched people who were sat after us get food, drinks, check, and leave and we still had nothing. Finally the waitress realized that something was off and finally informed us our food was going to be out “soon” due to a mistake putting the order in. Not much later all the apps and mains came out together. The food itself wasn’t bad. Super hot and good flavors. They were just wayyyy short staffed for 7:30pm on a weekday. We were offered a small discount on the meal which was nice. I hope to try again in the future…hopefully it was just an off night…I just wasn’t expecting a beer, apps, and wieners to take 3.5 hours. Also please considered adding some acoustic materials to the space (window treatments, acoustic ceiling tiles, a walk off rug or something) it was almost impossible to hear my friends at the table or the waitress and I had a headache by the time I was leaving from having to yell to one another for 3 hours. Too many hard surfaces that just bounce...
Read more10/9/25 @ 430pm. I'm from Providence so I had to try this place! First of all, no one was there when we got there. I ordered espresso martini dark, chocolate shake, some appetizers. No bottle water, I hope you like Providence finest water (yuck)The apps came out first! No drinks, no plates, the garlic Parmesan fries were ok. The onion rings were better. The chocolate milkshake had frostbite ice cream, it was so gross. So I ordered a coke. The coke was gross I guess they didn't change (CO2)My drink sat at the bar for 10 mins I was a little disappointed that my apps came before my drink. The bartender kept saying another day in paradise maybe 10 times. I guess he doesn't like his job!! Also no one was at the restaurant why the bartender couldn't have brought the drink over instead of letting it sit is beyond me!! no teamwork in this place!! The weiners are not Weiners they are hotdogs. were not that great! I'm used to real RI weiners. the meat sauce was trash. The honey mustard chicken sandwich was good. the dessert with the cookie and ice cream was good. I ordered food to go and ask for it to come out after we was done with dessert but it came out with the dessert. This place is unorganized they need to learn teamwork!! This place belongs in a college area not on the Hill! Atwells ave has changed, It doesn't have the...
Read moreI went here with an open mind, really I did. I hadn't seen all the hate on reddit or anything. But it was so underwhelming. $7 for what can best be described as a Sloppy Joe hot dog, but called a "Rhody" wiener? Not even the New York System genuine article at its core, just a regular old American style Vienna sausage, possibly a Saugy skinless (which is also not cool). I'm not saying it was horrible, but it simply didn't come within a country mile of my expectations, and not in a good way. The fried mozzarella was great, and I bet the burgers are too, but marketing as a wiener joint in this city is just not the move.
This place is more like Spike's, and that is fine; I love Spike's. But "wiener" needs something like EU TSG (Traditional Specialties Guaranteed) status in Rhode Island to prevent such grave confusion. I know it is a pretty generic term in other locales, but it means something very specific here, and this makes this whole thing smack of being engineered to confuse. Or just to tourist-/student-trap unwitting outtastaytas who think they are getting the real deal, which is just as bad. This would be on-brand for its original Newport location, but we won't stand for it here...
