Visiting from out of town. Had to go to Smith’s for groceries and saw this spot so I drove up to the drive through on Friday, and ordered a medium Godfather. I was charged $7. Little steep, but this is the west coast and the coffee was truly delicious. So I said whatever, I’m only here for the weekend. It is what it is. This is when things got way worse…
The bald dude at the window, asks if I will be tipping today. I said “No, not today.” This rude man responds to me, in a condescending voice. “That’s really unfortunate.” I thought this was very rude, why would I tip? I waited in line with 3 cars in front of me and its not like they went above and beyond to make my coffee. I already paid $7 for a medium coffee, why would I tip more?
So next day, Saturday, I’m like dam that coffee was really good I’m going back. This time no line, same order, medium Godfather. This time for some reason I paid just above $6. I was confused why I paid $7 for the same order yesterday, I have a feeling baldie added extra charge to my order. Again, they ask for a tip, lady this time. I said, “No, not today.” After I said that the lady rolled her eyes didn’t say a word after I said thank you and just gave me my coffee. I’m giving 3 stars. Delicious coffee, steep price, terrible customer service.
Edit: Apparently being a customer who comes two days in a row, and pays full price, makes me a terrible customer. Based on owners reply to this review, pay your employees a fair wage and stop making them rely on tips. Do you even know what a tip means? Please explain to us where the tip is deserved from a normal drive through interaction. Get off...
Read moreI've given this place a lot of chances but today was the last time I'll ever go there. The issue that bothered me most in the past was when they run your card they ask you directly if you'd like to leave a tip, forcing you to either say yes or no. I've gotten to the point where I very politely decline, seeing as I'm already paying over $6 for a drink.
Today, the guy working asked if I'd like to leave a tip. I said, as usual, very politely "no thank you!." And he says to me "well that's unfortunate." and leaves the window to make my drink. I immediately felt uncomfortable and wondered if he would tamper with my drink in some way. I honestly should've just driven off right then and done a charge back but I was too shocked. It took him 5 minutes to make the drink, and gave it to me without the whipped cream I had asked for, saying they were out of whipped cream. Now maybe they were or maybe he was getting some petty revenge on me, I will never know because of his comment. I ended up just dumping the drink down the sink because I was afraid it had been tampered with in other ways.
At the location in Orem, they are much nicer, more friendly, and never ask for tips. Sure, their POS gives the option to add a tip, but they only ever ask for your signature.
EDIT: and before the owner can come respond with some snark about going to Starbucks or Dutch Bros instead...nah, there's plenty of GOOD LOCAL coffee shops that I'd rather give my money to. Peace On Earth, Java Junkie, Cream and Sugar, Lighthouse,...
Read moreEver since I can remember, my parents have been getting coffee at Juice and Java in Provo. When I was younger, it was the luckiest day ever when they would let me get one of their HUGE blueberry muffins. Each hot drink is topped off with a chocolate covered mocha bean which is a fun addition to each drink. Recently they moved locations to a larger location on a bigger and more busy road, and we were excited to try out the new location. Went there today after a few years and sadly I will NOT be back. Pulled up to the window and the lady opened the sliding window and said “yes?” I would like to order a double tall mocha. “Ummm what is that??” Oh I am sorry, a tall double mocha please. “WHAT’S A TALL!?” Sorry, other coffee places I tell them tall, can I get a medium? “Seriously lady? We have 12 oz, 14 oz, and 16 oz. What do you want?” I was offended but said the 16 oz, (medium). She hurried and shut the window before I could say another word. I got her attention and told her I had another drink to order, and she acted so disgusted. Can I get a sugar free caramel mocha please in a 16 oz? She said, “we don’t have sugar free chocolate, only sugar free caramel.” (accepting that the caramel is what I ordered in the first place, I said OK! She handed me the drinks, didn’t say anything else. Did NOT leave a tip, and will not be back. Makes me very sad, because of the long time memories, but there are other...
