Backdoor has been on my radar for awhile, so it was great to finally make it. Overall, it was a great experience. Food and service were both excellent. We got sat pretty quickly with drinks delivered shortly thereafter. I loved the giant metal mug for my Coke and my wife loved that her water came in a metal cup as well. I didn't ever have to ask for a refill and both our drinks stayed crisp and cool for the whole meal. The shake came out before the food and was probably one my favorite strawberry shakes I've ever had. Lots of fruit pieces happily mixed into creamy and loose vanilla ice cream. I know many people prefer thick shakes (which are more common here) but this would still be worth your time for flavor. We waited a bit for the burgers, but waiting has never been a problem for me. If they're making it fresh, what's the rush? Especially as things picked up a bit. I ordered the Stoneman burger. I loved that I could taste the layers of flavor in the burger, including the beef itself. So often the beef gets overshadowed by everything else, but I could taste it in each bite (though, for me, it could've used just a touch more seasoning). It got pretty messy by the end, with the bun and burger both falling apart, but the flavor was still great. A more substantial bun might help, but I wasn't too bothered. I also got Cajun fries, which were excellent. Waffle fries are a great choice for texture and really hold the seasoning well. They had just a bit of spice and were excellent dipped in the accompanying sauce. Again, overall a very good experience. Maybe pricier than other options, but quality has a cost and I'll definitely be back again. Here's to hoping for some raspberry or peach shakes as those fruits come into season!

After work, I went for a very long ride on my Grom. Summer days in Utah longer and I didn't realize that it was already 9pm. On my way home, I decided to stop by Backdoor BRGR, due to my friend Dari's recommendation. I am very glad I stopped in today. The restaurant is at the back of Heber Hatchet, so you just need to be careful as you walk to the back where the restaurant is located. I got The Stoneman burger. The bun was lite, but firm and flakey and held the incredibly juicy burger together. That 1/2 lb grass fed beef was cooked to perfection. The burger was topped with guacamole, crispy bacon, grilled mushrooms, and cheddar cheese. The toppings had so much flavor, I was purposefully dripping them on my cajun waffle fries. One moment, I just need to savor that moment in my head again. Ok, waffle cajun fries. Yes, so delicious! And the mug that was for my mountain dew! Ok, that was a lot of Dew. I must have been dehydrated from my ride because I almost had 2 mugs of Dew. Oh, my lucky day, due to the 2for1 app, today is free pie day if you use your app. I got a free slice of Whopper pie. BK Whopper? Good lord no! Whopper the malt balls candy! This pie had a very nice chocolate cookie crust, a chocolate pudding filling, topped with fluffy cream, drizzled with chocolate and caramel, and topped with crushed Whoppers all on a cute little wood cutting board. Yeah, let that sink in. Oh good glorious slice of pie! This place is a bit on the pricey side, but you are getting good quality food. I mean look at that cute little deep fryer fries basket. Will I be back? YUP! Remember to support your local businesses. This one is just near downtown Provo. #thisishowichow #omnomgrom @dariann77 @backdoorbrgr @2for1app @heberhatchets

POSITIVES: how can I put into words the experience that I had at Backdoor BRGR?... I've got it! "Unparalleled!". I went in thinking I would play it safe with the Boring Uncle Bryce. But I put my big boy pants on, and ventured to try the daring Dan Kelly... And who woulda thought... Peanut butter and jelly on a burger, with some jalapeño flavor in the mix... It really works. It doesn't just work, it was fantastic, delicious, unique, and unforgettable. All of the flavors were delicately balanced. The cajun crisscut/waffle fries were perfectly fried and crispy. I was a bit skeptical of the fry sauce, which looked more yellowy than I would've imagined. But it, too, exceeded my expectations - it was almost like a mix of honey mustard and fry sauce? Or close to Chick Fil A sauce? Idk but it was superb. The restaurant itself sits on top of of the kitchen, and in the back of a Hatchet Throwing business in the same building. The ambiance is charming, decked out with barrels and nice wooden booths, which gives it an old saloon feel. The staff are wonderful, welcoming, and friendly. They go out of their way to make your visit worth it. You can definitely tell that their top priority is the satisfaction of the customer. NEGATIVES: the only thing I recall was the price being pretty high. For a burger and fry meal you're looking at upwards of $15. But let's be honest, this ain't no In N Out basic burger. There's nothing ordinary about it. The patty itself has great flavor. The quality of the ingredients will not disappoint. PRICE: $12-18 per person. VERDICT: superb. Worth every penny and calorie. Cannot wait to go back and try some other items on the menu. (I'm looking at you, Grumpy Claire).

So, we (wife and myself) tried to get into this place before, but it was so understaffed they had to stop customers from coming in, but we made it in on March 8th. I believe they should stop making food altogether and reassess their purpose. First off, their prices are not just ridiculous, they're disgusting. They do not combine the fries with the burgers for something like a combo, nope, they believe their fries are so good that they deserve their own place on the menu. If such was the case, then a person would be inclined to go in for the fries alone. I assure you, no one would show up for their pathetic, overcooked, old-oil fries, (honestly, change the oil). So, expect to pay more for a side of unfulfilling and flavorless lament that is well below Arby's standards (does Arby's have standards?). The burgers, however, were flavorful, unfortunately, the flavor is akin to licking the bottom of a fire pit. I mean, I'm paying 15+ dollars for one cheeseburger and 13+ for the other, I'm expecting some incredible, nova-explosion of culinary ecstasy that surpasses all competitors. Alas, these burgers rank somewhere between McDonald's and your weird, drunken uncle's attempt to bbq and meet you behind the shed. To be fair, there were a lot of people both times I came in. However, I've found that many people just accept things, they don't fuss. They hope the food turns out, and if it doesn't, well, better luck next time. The burgers were not juicy, all the moisture burned out of them by what I imagine was a WW2 flamethrower. You can get a superior burger (in comparison) at In-N-Out for much less. The server kid was nice and I hope my tip went to him, but I did have to wait about an hour for the food, which wasn't worth it. The atmosphere was quaint, but again, the food isn't worth it. I give every place I go to for the first time a full chance, I don't return the food, (minus cleanliness issues), complain about the wait, or not tip. I accept it as the risk of trying something new. I don't plan on returning here ever, but sometimes occurrences and coincidences happen and you end up in places you swore off—should that occur, well, I will not be as polite. To sum up, save your money and do not eat here. If you want to eat a hockey puck that dreamt of being a burger and spend a lot of money for trash, go...

I visited Back Door Burger this past weekend. We love the taste of your food and have been coming to your restaurant for several years now, however we’re extremely disappointed in the quality of service we received and that we feel we were way over charged. I ordered the Poco Bueno burger and asked to replace the patty for the impossible patty as I’m vegetarian. The waitress said that could be done but didn’t say there would be any additional fee. She ended up charging us not only the full price of the poco bueno burger as if we had gotten the half pound angus patty - but she then charged another $3.12 to make the substitution. This has never happened before and as I’ve mentioned we frequent Back Door Burger as one of our favorite spots. We didn’t notice until we had paid and were looking at the receipt on our way to the car.

We were extremely upset as not only do we feel like that was taking advantage of the fact that I’m vegetarian, but I ended up paying way more than any one else would have. I basically paid $15 for the bread, cheese, a tiny bit of guac and pico. It was missing the poblano….and then I had go pay for my patty separately. It was absolutely ridiculous being it was only $13 for his burger and mine was nearly $19. Meat is nearly the same price if not more depending on the quality of the meat than one impossible patty (I know I buy them regularly at Costco). I go to lots of other burger places and never am charged to exchange the patty. Because of this experience, we won’t ever be returning to Back Door Burger and won’t recommend it. We seriously used to race to everyone about how they needed to try it. I can literally go to a competitor and get a vegetarian burger for $9. We came there because the burgers were different, but this is not the experience we’ve had in the past nor expected. We did raise our concerns to the guy at the cashier desk and he said there was nothing to be done even though our waitress didn’t even mention the extra change when we were ordering. Honestly disappointed in...

Excellent food. Similar to how it was explained in another review, the food has a comforting familiarity, but with some exciting twists. I had to stop and stare at my burger in amazement after one particular bite because I was so pleasantly surprised by the taste bud adventure I was sent on. (I got the Grumpy Claire.) I ordered online. Their order status screen I was sent in a confirmation email never updated from saying “new.” I hoped it’d say “in progress” or “ready” at some point after refreshing the page over and over. After 30ish minutes after my order, I call, and they told me there’s a “disconnect” between the kitchen and the online order status page, so the status that the customer sees never updates, and my order had actually been ready for a while by that point. I actually half expected to have to call to check up on the order in the first place anyway, since the whole online ordering system felt rudimentary. Since I was already expecting to have to follow up myself with a call, I wasn’t upset, but the order status page is something that should get fixed. Since my food was sitting in a carry-out box for a bit, the fries ended up soggy but they were still good. (The Cajun fries are spicy, but nothing crazy.) I recommend you hold off going until you are able to dine in, to ensure your food is as crisp and fresh as possible. I’m definitely holding out to have friends or family to go with for next time so I can have the freshest experience. Kinda awkward to get the burger joint itself—it’s like a hole-in-the-wall... within a hole-in-the-wall: you have to walk through an axe/hatchet-throwing business area to get to the burger joint. (This is actually pretty cool to have both businesses combined for a night out.) The employees were very nice, both on phone and in person, and the chef obviously knew what...
