I've gone to CHOM a handful of times and it has been okay. The chicken is decent, the burgers are very good. However, the two experiences I have had have me frustrated enough that I will not go back again. First of all they do not answer their phone. They do not respond to messages left. On my most recent visit I was having an off-site work meeting with my colleagues. We ordered CHOM online. After paying with the school credit card it asked for "Special Instructions". I told them it was to be tax exempt and I gave the name of the school, the tax Id number and my phone number for questions. We ordered 3 chicken sandwiches and a Cobb Salad. I waited my 20 minutes and drove down to pick it up. One customer was in the building, two workers sitting on stools talking and one person at the grill. When I told them my name the worker informed me that they were all out of Cobb Salads and they refunded it. I thought to myself, why didn't they call and let me know, or text? I then had to order the replacement meal and then wait even longer for them to cook it. He rang that up and gave me tax exempt. I got my food and had to ask for the receipt. When I got the receipt, tax was added. I told them it was tax exempt. He told me he couldn't take care of it. Only one person could and they weren't in the building. I gave my name and number and all my info and asked if he would email me the new receipt back. That was over a week ago. I've called and left two messages. I am going to try and do a third. The first incident was at the end of November. We were all putting up Christmas decorations and thought we would get some CHOM burgers. There was about 10 or so of us. It was around 2 in the afternoon. We took the time and placed the order online. After about 20 minutes we got an email back telling us that our order was too big and that they were unable to fill it at this time. What??? It was about a $200.00 order and that was all we got from them. I wouldn't recommend it if you are big on customer service. If that does not bother you the food is...
Read moreTL;DR: You will love this place. The food is near perfect, even if the rest of it isn't... give it a chance, you will not regret!
The Provo restaurant is "seat yourself", and is small, so during rush hours when it's very crowded, you have to stand waiting for a table to become available (and hopefully before your food is ready). It's counter service, so you order first, but insecure people tend to have someone in their party grab a table as soon as it's available, even if they haven't ordered yet (usually swiping it from someone who has been waiting for a table for a while.) It'd be ni e if the restaurant advocated for the considerate and orderly among their clientele by posting signage that shames people who sit out of order lol.
The service is fine, but minimal - you order at the counter, then they call you up to get your food when it's ready. I have yet to see someone from the restaurant wipe a table down. Given the quick-turn-around of tables, it'd be good to have their presence there looking after cleanliness. I have wiped enough tables on my own there that I may have to claim ot on my taxes ;)
So, all of that mediocrity might bode poorly for the food quality... but let me tell you, you would be hard-pressed to find a better burger in Utah. The variety is awesome and engaging, the fries are near-perfect, the shakes are outstanding. I love the Spicy Serrano Burger. The BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger is delicious, too... though once I thought the bacon was a little salty. But it still was delicious!
Verdict: winner winner...
Read moreI'm shocked that this place gets an average of 4 stars. We decided to give it a try since we had never been and were thoroughly disappointed. By the end of our experience I kept joking it was the chum bucket. We got inside and had a group of 7 people. We found out their food delivery had been screwed up so a lot of their ingredients were missing from their menu items. Things like sweet potato fries and green Chile's.
As my sister and her boyfriend were looking at the menu, one of the wooden boards with a menu item came flying off and almost hit them on the head. The employees who watched it happen were nice enough to give them a discount but even then the food sucked.
The place was super warm, looked simple but unclean, and so we decided to sit outside. The ambiance outside was not much better as the bench tables were not in great shape and there were a bunch of spider webs and spiders above us. The soda machines had some decent flavors but common ones like coke zero and sprite were gross and not balanced.
The food took a while to be ready and even then most of the burger patties were uncooked. The fries were way overpriced for the amount. All in all we all left unsatisfied and hungry even though we had spent a good amount of money on their overpriced items. The quality of the food is definitely not...
