I like this place. It indeed has food. The food is indeed edible. It was $13 per person for an all-you-can-eat buffet with many delicious options for what you can eat. Even during the dinner rush, there was food ready available for us, and the food was never cold. My friends and I got some spring rolls, fish and rice, pickle chips, burger and onion rings, fruit (cantaloupe and honeydew), and mozzarella sticks. As for dessert, my friends got some chocolate pudding, dessert rolls, and nutella-bars. The only complaints were the pudding was a bit bland and the honeydew was a tad old, but besides that, EVERYTHING ELSE was sooooooo delicious!!! I would particularly recommend the burger. They have pretty much every drink imaginable. Nearly too many drink options! I got the Barq's orange cream soda. Would recommend; my friend says the chocolate milk is a must have. There is a new "allergy friendly" food bar in the back corner. It serves gluten free burger buns, but they look like your stereotypical crumbly buns. There was plenty of allergy friendly food in the other food bars though. The food servers surprisingly did NOT look dead inside, which is unusual considering they work in the food industry. Quite the welcome surprise. I asked if a dressing on some rice had dairy, and they found out quickly and friendly (it did). When I asked for a plate without the dressing, they compiled a smile. It was very welcoming. The atmosphere was indeed breathable. Jokes aside, the building is filled with several different style themes that all felt different, but fit together as a whole nicely. The ceiling is fairly high making a grand/epic feeling. There is both open seating and more enclosed seating (my friends and I choose the latter). There is seating both by the windows, by the wall, and in the middle of the room. The window view wasn't quite "I must take a photo of this" beautiful, but it was by no means unpleasant. ALSO, everything was so CLEAN! There were no crumbs on the seats, and the tables were spotless! As the cannon center is in the middle of BYU, it makes sense that there isn't a lot of parking, so we had a short walk from the parking spot to the entrance, but it was worth it. All in all, I would highly recommend this place. The food is delicious, the customer service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is great. Me and my friends had an absolute blast!

In September 2025, we visited The Cannon Commons on the campus of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. The Cannon Commons is a self-serve student cafeteria, and it is also open to the General Public. This is an all-you-can-eat buffet style, with different stations for different types of food, including a grill, pizza, salad bar, desserts, and so forth. The cost is very reasonable to eat there and the food tastes delicious and fresh. My recommendation is to come hungry and eat the most nutritious food first, as there is unlimited food available.

For an all-you-can-eat buffet with so many options, this place is really good, and really cheap!! There's something here for everyone and anyone. Every day, there is a new menu of food made from scratch, along with the regular sandwich, taco, burger, crepe, cereal, and drink bars! The international food corner in the back right of the cafeteria is especially good. I got there at 11 am, did homework there all day long, ate dinner, then left at 8 pm because they were closing in 30 min.

PROSPECTIVE HELAMAN HALLS RESIDENTS - please please do not pay attention to the reviews from people who eat here on an occasional basis. If you are thinking about living in Helaman Halls you need to hear from students that have eaten there for the long haul. Almost everyone loves it at first, but before two months are up the Cannon Center’s true colors start to show. It is especially important if you have any kind of allergy or intolerance to seriously consider whether it’s worth it to have this be a main food source for you. They claim to accommodate for allergies but attempts are meager at best, and don’t even get me started on the cross contamination. I learned the hard way through the Cannon Center that I am allergic to corn and soy because every single thing in this place is pumped with preservatives and corn and soy by products that made me so sick my body went into complete meltdown the entire time I lived and ate there. I spent my freshman year in agonizing pain feeling like I had been drugged and struggling to even breathe and missing out on the experiences my friends got to have because this food was essentially poison to my body. Not everyone is as sensitive as me, but pretty much everyone I knew reached a point where the Cannon food was making them sick in some way or another. I loved my experience in Helaman Halls dearly!! But I sincerely caution anyone looking to eat here regularly to really examine what they think their body can (and should) be...

The Cannon Center is pretty great. It’s a little pricey—especially if you’re bringing the family—but the food is good and there’s plenty of it. It can get pretty crowded during meal time hours with all the students and faculty, so plan to do some looking to find a place to sit. It’s better in the summer, but be careful about the hours. They close earlier in the summer months, and you do NOT want to show up with your kids to find the place closed.

I love that I can find something to eat no matter what I’m in the mood for, and so can anyone who accompanies me. My problem, actually, tends to be that I eat too much when I come :) On the plus side, I can eat lunch here and then skip dinner. And probably skip breakfast in preparation.

A warning about parking—if you’re not a BYU employee/student with the right credentials, you will want to make sure you’re parked outside of enforcement hours or up in the visitor lot at the top of the hill. You really don’t want to have a fun meal and come out to find a ticket on...
