The day after Christmas, my wife and I wanted to go to IHOP, where there was a 45 minute wait. Hard Pass. 15 mins is my max to wait for a meal. My wife suggested First Watch (sorry but hate the name) which she had been to other location's maybe two or three times. I've never even heard of FW until we moved to AZ, even tho my wife said they do have them in NJ, where we are from. So, we were told of a 15 minute wait and we just ducked into the nearby Verizon store to get stuff done, until we were texted.
First off, I disagree with a previous reviewer's comment about how finding parking can be tough. It's a typical strip mall (albeit huge) and you can always find parking--always. On this day after Christmas, when the entire world decided to get out, I easily found a space 60 feet away from the location.
But back to the restaurant:
I told my wife it was the best breakfast I've ever had. Ever.
Everything, every bite, was delicious...between my wife and I we had french toast (with Jelly not syrup), a veggie omelet , little potato thingies, toast and coffee. Tough for me know how good coffee is (I mean, after sugar and cream, they all taste the same), althogh I wish they had sweet and low..they had the fancy (healthy?) little tiny canister sugar things. Whatever.
The coffee was hot, the most important thing for me. The waitress even gave us a fresh pot of coffee just a few minutes into our meal. Nice touch.
And of course an important aspect of dining out for me: The waitress came by every 3 or 4 minutes to check on us. No disappearing act, as is the case too often at restaurants. Nice.
The interior was nice...modern with the exposed ducts/ceiling. The prices were reasonable, too. As everyone knows, you can't find any entree under $12 anymore. Didn't realize you could pay the bill on your phone...maybe next time.
My only complaint: The waitress gave us our bill perhaps five minutes into our meal. Not cool. I mean, it was busy and we didn't in any way feel rushed....I dunno, the bill should come at the end of a meal IMHO . FW may want to reconsider this policy, if it even is their policy to present the bill just minutes into the dining experience.
But what really matters is the food was delicious, served in a nice atmosphere, with good service and at reasonable prices. Not sure you can ask for anything more. Well done, FW!! We shall return as we just found our new...
Read moreFirst Watch in Queen Creek, AZ, is a breakfast gem! I visited last weekend, and it was the perfect way to start the day. The Olive Marketplace location has a warm, inviting vibe with bright, modern decor that creates a great morning atmosphere. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and our server, Alex, was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and full of spot-on recommendations. I ordered the meat lover’s omelet, and it was incredible—stuffed with savory bacon, sausage, and ham, folded around melted cheese, and cooked to fluffy perfection, served with a side of well-seasoned potatoes. My friend got the Chickichanga, a delicious mix of eggs, chicken, and avocado wrapped in a tortilla, and they couldn’t stop raving about it. The coffee was bold and fresh, with free refills that kept us energized. Every dish showcased high-quality ingredients, and they handled my dairy-free request seamlessly. Portions were spot-on for the price (around $12-18 per dish), and even during the morning rush, service was swift, with food arriving hot and fresh. First Watch in Queen Creek delivers an exceptional breakfast experience with creative dishes and top-notch service. I’m already excited for my next visit! Five...
Read moreI am not the type to eat out for breakfast/brunch, but had a great experience having brunch at First Watch with a group of friends. Plenty of space to wait right outside, and the hostess waiting at the door was efficient and friendly. We just walked up to get on the waitlist, and had about a 25 minute wait at 10:30 a.m. The restaurant is really beautiful and comfortable. There were 5 of us and we had no problem carrying on a conversation even though the restaurant was full. All of the food that we ordered came out looking absolutely stunning! The Floridian French Toast was colorful, the skillet hash was nicely plated, and the biscuits and gravy were warm and tasty. I felt like I got a healthy meal that also tasted wonderful: the perfect combo! Our waitress was cheerful and helpful. The cool thing about paying is that the receipt has a QR code on it to pay right on your phone. Love the use of technology to simplify! Definitely going back soon. The one and only downside: parking. It's a hot mess in the this little corner, so if you are okay with walking, just park out in the main parking complex and burn a few calories rather than stress about finding a space close to...
