We recently book their party room for our son’s 4th Birthday at this location to support them as our asian community. Before the party we negotiated with the owner and management about table, food, and other accommodations. We made agreement on every term they asked for from how many tables we can book or add more if needed, and how many waiters or waitress would tend to the party to provide us with their services. On the day of Louis’s Birthday Party, we arrived at the restaurant at 4:00 PM as planned, the party room that we booked were not cleared of any restaurant supplies. We politely ask the host if she can let the waiter/waitresses that is servicing us to remove the item(s) so we can set up the room and have it ready for the event, which will start at 6:00 PM. The hostess looked at me confused and didn’t know what to reply. So I went to look for the manager that we spoke with in person about the agreements that we made prior to the party. After all that the waitresses came in and removed some of the restaurant item(s), my mother in law asked me if I can ask them for a cup of water while we set up the room so she can take her medication. The waitress responded to me with “the time for the party is not starting yet, and you are asking for too much already”. A little furious about the comment, I kept to myself. My girl heard the waitress response and asked her if she was the boss that we spoke with over the phone. The waitress responded no, and was refuted by her response. The boss that we spoke with over the phone about the party arrangement (Hoang) arrived around 4:30 PM and started tending to us and helping us out a bit. Her arrival helped us getting the tables arrangement that we needed. At the same time we never knew who our waiters or waitresses were. (There was suppose to be 3 of them) Fast forwarding when the party started. The waitress or waiters were only there for moments when the boss was around to help cater to our needs. When the boss left (we don’t know at what time) may around 6:30 PM none of the employee was around to cater any more. The table were starting to have piles of empty plates with trash build up and no one around to help remove any of the empty plates for new food to be cater to each tables. A little upset and tired because me and my girl been tending to our guests at each table. I begin to bring the empty plates with trash and empty cups out to the employee. They still didn’t get the idea to come inside and help. Each time we needed something none of the staffs were around to help us, but we can clearly see them standing outside looking in at our party. Which is really upsetting. When it was almost time to start serving the cake (7:30 PM) we had to find the employee, and they were never in and out to ask us if we needed anything. I had to go to the kitchen register to ask them to bring the cake and other things many times. This shouldn’t have to happen because we booked the place with accommodations that was agreed upon by the manager and boss. At the end of the night we paid the bills and left, but we were not happy with the services that was catered to us. We paid 20% in gratuity ($600+) with this amount of gratuity we felt saddened that we didn’t get the services that we deserved. We reached out to the boss (Hoang) to talk with her about the experienced at her restaurant with her staff. She told us that there was nothing she can do about her staffs personality or services. We only wanted her to know that we were sadden about the accommodations, and was looking forward to hearing from her after she spoke with her staff. She never called us back to talk after the initial conversation. It sadden us still to leave this 1 star review, but we want you to know to be careful with the staff if you want to book with them for future events. The employee does not care for any customers nor they talk to the customers with friendly personality. The owner Hoang were the only one that catered the most when she was there...
Read moreIt had a cute ambiance with 90s vibe and our server was excellent. She was also funny and kind. I was not expecting any kind of good meal and was surprised.
There were items on the menu I don't see often, especially in the Northeast, and wish I was with a large enough group to order all of them.
-- Goi cuon chay was very thick and I was excited to eat it. The peanut sauce was slightly weak but having all the correct sauces at the table meant that wasn't a problem. I was very happy my friend wasn't hungry enough to eat more of this one.
In the pho, broth was standard but great. Usually when I go out for pho I don't need much more than a sampler bowl from someone willing to share, but I cried a little inside when I finished my bowl, despite my friend put heaping amounts of beef in it. Beef was very tender and the cuts were gorgeous; not only quality-wise, but the skill of reducing protein fibers to toothpick out of the teeth.. 👌🏻 (TL;DR many restaurants roughly cut meat but the pieces for this were carefully butchered)
Bun thit cha gio - the grilled pork could have been more flavorful for me but overall I loved this bowl. The prawns were some of the best I've had in years that both me and my friend were either getting the juices from the skin or eating it altogether. The balance of veggies to protein to noodles was enjoyable. I took the rest of this home to have for brunch the next morning and it fared quite well.
We were quietly nibbling throughout the meal with little sounds of happy noms. Successful trip.
Excited to come...
Read moreBe aware of the bill! Maybe you are overcharged! I recently visited Pho So 1 Boston in Quincy and had a mixed experience. The food was okay, and the service was okay, but I was overcharged on my bill. It’s important to be aware of this issue if you decide to dine here.
We ordered the caramelized fish and pork dish, which was priced at $18.95 on the menu. However, I received only the caramelized fish, which was listed at $16.95. When I got the bill, I was surprised to see that I was charged $20.95 for the dish, a price that did not appear anywhere on the menu.
Not sure if this was an honest mistake, but it made me wonder if other customers might also be overcharged. I brought the discrepancy to the cashier’s attention, and she gave me $3 in cash, explaining that she couldn’t refund the difference through the credit card transaction. While I understood that, I was puzzled as to why I only got $3 back when I was actually overcharged by $4.
I don’t want to seem cheap, but I believe in paying the prices I’ve agreed to and can afford. I encourage everyone to carefully check their bill if they choose to eat here, as you might also find yourself overcharged.
Overall, while the food and service were acceptable, the billing issue left a no good impression . I hope the restaurant addresses this problem to ensure a better experience for...
