I hosted a baby shower event here with 37 guests. This was a huge huge mistake!
When you book an event with them, they rush you to pay the $500 deposit. After you pay, you have to hunt them down (the events lady is Josephine) to give them the details of what you want, and they always give you the run around, never a straight answer. They also overbook their events, so that they place events back to back. If your event is after another one, your guest will have to wait outside until the prior guest leave the room, then give them 20 more minutes to clean the room...then imagine if you have any decorations to put up... it's a nightmare.
Besides the horrible booking experience, I also had a bad event experience. First, the room was not ready on time (my guest had to wait outside while the room was cleaned from a prior party). Second, the salad that I had pre-selected for everyone was not the one I ordered (i got about 10 slices of a pale lettuce instead). Third, the service was horrible. There was only 1 waiter, and 2 young guys assisting him, but were all very un-attentive. My contract included bread and olive oil, and soda. However, we literally had to ask about 10 times to get bread, and they brought so little! then ask 10 more times for the olive oil, and again they brought very little. The only time they ran to serve us was to refill the sangria, which was $30/pitcher. The meal itself was ok, but again very limited quantity (1 asparagus??). Fourth, the cake they offer is a complete embarrassment. I requested some space on the cake to put my own decoration, and they decorated the entire cake! they left no room, and the decoration they did was really tacky, almost like a 10 year old decorated it.
The only thing that was good, and I gave it a star, was that the owner was respectful, courteous, and the place was nice. However, the owner was not always available, and we had to deal with the waiters....

We arrived at the place at 7:25pm, but the supposedly reservation took us 7:40pm to be seated. We were waiting for a server to approach us and get our order, however, it's been 15 mins already since we sat down and still no one came to get our order. I have to call another server to advise of our order, she then told us that there is an assigned server for our table. She just took our wine orders and left. Until, another 10 mins passed, the same server noticed that we have not been attended to, as she might have probably noticed that we have been glancing around with a big question mark in our head. She took our order for the main course and the food was served after 40-45 minutes, just as we were about to leave. And because, we were decent enough to give it a chance, so we stayed and ate, hoping that the food will compensate the stress we've been through out of poor customer service. But... my order- “pork giambotta” was too salty. We did not call their attention anymore coz it might take another hour to be replaced. Alas! We're done eating and yet, we get to play the waiting game again... I have to call another server again for the bill. We were even more upset to see an incorrect charge! We were charged for four glasses of wine! Wow! We are unaware that we have two more companies. The supposedly romantic dinner became a nightmare. Had we known that this was the worst fine dinning in Rahway, we could have just stayed at home or better ordered from Hugo's. Not to mention, their feedback/comment sheet is missing one box for POOR service. This restaurant lacks customer service to be given "fair" as the lowest review. But when you order your food and it comes out wrong….Rule number one is Im so sorry let me redo or would you like something else… So let’s get started the server/ bar tender was so rude demanding we ordered the ribeye steak well. No we didn’t.We ordered it medium, also ordered it with no sauce..! It was over cooked and had so much sauce as well. Next thing you know the manager Sophia comes out and was extremely rude and un customer oriented for a service business. She Argued that that was the way we ordered it instead of accommodating us as a customer. Sophia very rudely and very loud said that was what we ordered. There were other customers sitting nearby who were speechless. I have never in 55 years experienced something like this. Being treated like this. I asked for the check and to make it better she wouldn’t take the ribeye off the check. Coming from a service business for over 35 years locally I’m blown away… ! The customer is never to be talked to like Sophia did. This place should go back to the core value of having trained employees who can manage their business. Not promoting poor customer service. We also were never asked if we wanted a different dish or if we wanted it to go. So this is my 47.00 review for my ribeye that I was forced to pay for.
