I’ve visited this place twice, primarily because they stay open late, making it a convenient option for late-night pizza cravings. However, both experiences left much to be desired in terms of customer service.
During my initial visit, the person who answered the phone lacked enthusiasm and came across as indifferent. This lack of positive energy was concerning, especially when considering the importance of good customer service in the food industry.
Unfortunately, my most recent encounter on 3/30/24 only reinforced my initial impression. Upon calling to inquire about any specials, I was met with a dismissive and rude response from the employee. Their snappy tone and rushed demeanor throughout the call were disappointing and not reflective of the level of service I expect.
While I did eventually try the pizza when a friend brought me a slice, I found it to be only average, deserving of a 3 out of 5 rating.
In conclusion, while the convenience of late-night hours is appreciated, the consistently poor customer service experiences make it difficult for me to justify returning to this establishment in the future. Improvements in staff training and attitude are necessary to ensure a more positive dining experience for customers.”

Read moreOverall Rating: 5.8/10 Located in downtown Raleigh, this establishment serves as a typical local pizza shop with a straightforward service approach and varied seating options. While generally efficient, the experience is dampened by the unclean bathroom.
Atmosphere: 4.9/10 The venue offers a decent space that suits its urban setting, featuring diverse types of seating that cater to different preferences. However, the cleanliness of the bathroom was a notable issue, detracting from the overall ambiance.
Service: 5.1/10 Service was efficient with friendly staff, characteristic of a fast, no-frills approach typical of many local pizza shops.
Food:
Cheese Pizza Slice: 6.9/10 The pizza slices are very large, providing good value per serving. The crust and bottom is crispy, and overall is not too greasy, which is a plus. The cheese on the pizza had an unusual taste, possibly due to the use of an atypical cheese like Parmesan, which might not align with everyone's expectations for a classic cheese pizza.
Value: 7.2/10 At $5 for a large slice of cheese pizza and $2.50 for each Gatorade, the pricing is competitive and represents good value for money, especially considering the portion size.
Pokémon Stops/Gyms: There are 2 PokéStops nearby, which could be an added attraction for Pokémon Go players...
Read moreI was born in New York City and grew up on classic New York style slices. Anyone who's ever been to New York knows the luxury of having ready to order pizza at all hours of the night. Outside of New York, this luxury is hard to find, and when I moved to Raleigh, I found most pizzerias in this city to be average at best, and even the decent pizzerias close by 10 if not earlier.
Benny Capitale's surpassed my expectations in every way. The pizza here is simple (the two main options are cheese and pepperoni), but mouth-wateringly good. The cheese, bread and tomato sauce taste exactly like a New York slice, but the shop (on weekends) is open past midnight, so just as I could bar hop around and drink before satisfying my late night cravings with some pizza back home in NY, now I can do the same in Raleigh thanks to Benny Capitale's.
What makes their pizza stand out is not only how good it is, but how large the average slice is. Benny Capitale's does not make small slices: their slices are roughly twice the size of the typical NY style slice, which means twice the pleasure.
Benny Capitale's succeeds in making me feel more like I'm back home. I didn't think it was possible to find incredible pizza in the south, but Benny Capitale's has restored my faith that great pizza does exist...
