Long time customer, well as long as you can for a place thats been open about a year.
I have always loved the empandadas at Che. They are the best in the triangle. And everyone has always been friendly.
But today they went beyond.
I was in a rush to get my dog to a vet appointment and had planned to pick up che on the way so I could eat dinner while waiting for the vet and then head home. Not for the first time with any of the places I have eaten from during COVID, the order didn't go through. I called and spoke with the woman working and she came out to try and clear things up. She could tell I was in a bit of a rush, and I am sure I was too short with her, but she was friendly as can be and though she couldn't get any heated up in time, she offered to get me them all frozen (which i had ordered most as frozen except for dinner as they are a perfect lunch to have stocked up in your freezer) which I definitely took up because I still figured it would be nice to just go home and throw them in the oven and have dinner.
When the lovely lady working came back out she had thrown in some extra sauces and an extra empanada or two to my large order. I would have still continued to give them my business if not and I am sure they know that, but they just care about...
Read moreI'm at a loss for words to describe how good this place is.
I moved to the Raleigh area from Florida, where we tend to have some darn good empanadas, and when I found Che in the Transfer food hall I couldn't believe something this good existed in North Carolina.
Apparently the owner moved here from Miami. That tracks, and Miami may have lost it's best empanadas to Raleigh if I'm being honest.
There are three locations now: Transfer hall, a food truck, and a new location in DuRaleigh next to The Mixx.
Pro tips for each location: Transfer - even if you're eating from a different spot in the hall, the empanadas are so fast and small enough that you can (and should) add one or two to whatever else you've ordered. Maybe a sweet fruit and cheese one as a desert if you're into that.
Food truck - it might sell out, so if they're rolling to an event you're attending try to order sooner than later. People are talking and they'll gobble up all the empanadas if you sleep on it. Om nom nom.
DuRaleigh - This new location is right next to The Mixx, which has any sort of wine, beer, or cocktail you might want and also a big casual setting where you can bring your empanadas and settle in with a drink...
Read moreChe Empanadas has some of the best food, however, do not assume that because they have delivered to you previously that they will deliver to you again. I placed an Order with my information, but unfortunately I don't always have service to my phone from my building. When I did call, I was advised that since I didn't answer they were returning to the store. I had to purchase in excess of $20 to even be allowed the delivery, and I was unable to leave myself to pick up my food. Then Che Empanadas stated that is was my fault for not having service on my phone and after they hung up on me the first time, they advised they would not issue a refund. At no time did they come inside my office building to inquire further as they stated they did. I only received an email of my receipt and nothing else. Very poorly run operation for such a higher quality food. I will never eat at this location again and perhaps Transfer Food Hall can find a better suited business to run out of their...
