Update: I've been back to this place a few times in the last ten months and each time was left with mixed feelings, more bad than good. The quality of food and service varies a bit too much. I want to support local businesses, but I just can't continue being a patron at this place.
Original review: We saw this place opened a few months ago but with the holidays, we did not have the chance to try until today. Overall the food was decent. I expected an explosion of flavors that I came to love with Thai food but did not get much of that here. I am not saying that the food was bad, it was okay. They do use very fresh ingredients which is always a plus.
The problem was, I ordered Thai spicy and there was nothing remotely spicy about that dish except for the jalapeño I asked for. On the spicy scale of 1 to 5, it was a zero for spicy. Maybe they forgot....
I asked if I can substitute jalapeño pepper in place of bell pepper and was told yes, But then I was charged $1 extra for it. I like hot pepper so I'll pay but maybe there should have been a confirmation that I'm okay with the extra charge beforehand.
Since this place is closed to home I'll give it another try in the future and may change my rating.
Oh yes, one thing that was very good was the Thai ice coffee. It was different. I can't really describe it, it...
Read moreDon't expect to eat lunch here in a timely manner. My wife my son and myself had come here around noon during my wife's lunch break which is an hour. We were greeted immediately which was nice and then our order was taken within 5 minutes of us being there. And then 20 minutes goes by I asked them to go check on the food and they brought it five minutes later which is already probably half of my wife's lunch. They bring out the appetizer with the main course at the same time when they should have brought it before. After getting my dish which was the basil beef it was cold when it should have been hot. I asked the staff if they knew how long the dish was sitting back there as it should have been hot. They gave me attitude and was very Unapologetic and just said I'll take it off the bill if you want. Customer service is vital when it comes to running an establishment and I will not be returning to this establishment. And to know I was not the only one in that restaurant that had inquired about their food there was another couple that said that they were on their lunch and were in a rush to get a quick bite to eat and they were very Unapologetic to them was very...
Read moreThai Chai Food Restaurant in Capital Village is under new management! The food is fantastic! I especially like the attention to detail in the take-out packaging. Allow me to explain…
I recently came in for the egg plant with basil, green peppers, red peppers, carrots, and choice of protein (chicken, pork, beef, tofu). I requested to add a little bit spicy and it was just so delicious! So today I ordered it to go & and was impressed at the packaging!
I had ordered saucy foods to go from other restaurants in the past, & the sauce always ended up sloshing out of the Styrofoam and into the plastic bag.
However, chai Thai Food restaurant was very considerate and put a sheet of tinfoil in the to go container before pouring in the Freshly cooked and steaming hot dish. They gently fold of the corners up so that the sauce would not splash out. Hence, I arrived home with my eggplant, basil and chicken dinner in perfect order!
I ate it on the back patio as the sun went down behind the house and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I will be back again and again! Thanks for the great food and great service.
