Definitely up there as far as poke places (although I've only been to 6 different poke places across NorCal).
Base: daikon salad was really interesting, almost like seaweed noodles except the texture was less crunchy and definitely more flavorful. They also added a bit of seasoning I think, which was really nice.
Fish: spicy salmon: not really spicy and the marinade wasn't very flavorful but otherwise had above-average freshness.
Toppings: they are generous with the toppings, I can't believe masago doesn't cost extra! The size that the cucumbers were cut into offered a much better mouth feel than other places. No comment on the other toppings.
Sauces: ohhhh boy the garlic miso was solid, not too sweet not too salty. I could eat it by the spoonful.
House shoyu was good too, I'm not knowledgeable enough about shoyu to have a good comment though.
Overall this meal was fantastic and only $15 including tax for 4 scoops it's a relatively good deal. The highlight of this bowl was that it wasn't overly sweet like other poke places (a lot of poke places go to the more creamy/sweet side of things due to the standard...
Read moreOkay, I’ve been a regular at this Poke joint since its inception. They were nothing short of amazing. However, recently, it feels like management is dropping the ball on the quality.
This is the second time in the span of 3 weeks where I ordered the “Spicy Tako” and it straight up tasted like something that was scooped out of a trash can, I wish I could say I’m exaggerating. It would behoove the owner/staff to taste check their marinated protein before serving it to their customers. People died from eating spoiled seafood before, so owners/staff need to step it up to prevent that from ever happening. I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but twice in three weeks is no coincidence.
Other than that, I think this place can regain its glory from the olden days. I used to not hesitate to recommend this Poke spot to my friends, but I’ve recently...
Read moreI visited Poke Cube as one of my places that wanted to eat for takeout while in the Sac area… and lo and behold, I read the recommendations and everything that they offered. Though I got takeout, my experience was rather exquisite and interesting.
Food: 5/5 There was quite a big amount of selection to choose from… from ahi tuna, to garlic shrimp, and more! I honestly was impressed by the selection. There was also kale too, as well.
Service: 5/5 They were really eager to help out, honestly, and gave me good recommendations. Keeping it short, but that’s all I had.
Atmosphere: 4/5 Though the restaurant was okay with the food and everything, I felt like the one thing they could have improved was the fact that they could have been more careful with...
