The worst experience ever! Embarrassing and humiliating to say the least.
So I made reservations for a party of four through the open table app. The reservation was made for 8:30pm and the only thing I was asked was wether I wanted counter seat or table. I requested counter seat, mind you, this is the first time we are visiting this restaurant. No where in the app did it state that counter seating means you have to eat the omakase. To be honest i didn't even know what that was. Well, the day of the reservation I get a confirmation call. The girl quickly ask if my party is confirmed at 830pm for omakase. I replied yes. Not fully understanding that omakase means chefs choice at a cost of around 100$ per person. I'm not sure why she even asked me if I was doing omakase since I didn't request it especially.
Anyway, the day of, we ended up needing to have dinner an hour earlier so I called to see if they could a accommodate us but no one would answer the call so we decided to just show up and ask in person. Well, my party walks in first and they are told that we could possibly be seated earlier but that we had especially asked for omakase and informed of what it entailed. Of course they were a little shocked since we didn't want to have chef's choice at all. I walk in and I'm asked if I'm the person that made the reservation to which I confirm. She asked if I wanted omakase and I explained that I didn't. The staff looks bothered but agree to seat us. Ok. That's when hell broke lose. As we are seated a staff member comes to the table and says can I talk to you? in a scolding voice. My party all looked confused. I say to them, jokingly, I feel like I'm in trouble. I get up, the server tells me that i requested omakase. I say no. I didn't request it. She says, well you confirmed omakase for four. I told her, look, I'm not quite sure what omakase even is, I'm sorry, I thought I was just confirming the reservation in general. Well, she says, you confirmed for omakase and if you don't want it, your party has to PAY 40$ per person to cancel it. I kindly told her that I wasn't paying anything. They seriously wanted us to pay for canceling omakase and .... pay for a regular table dinner. She says, let me speak to my boss. I seat again and waited for her to come back. Well, a different server comes and asks for our order. I'm baffled. I asked if they had verified with "the boss" that we are good to stay. She's either unaware of the issue or acting as though. She proceeds to go and confirm with her boss. Moments later the "boss" which is the chef comes to our table and tells us that we booked omakase and that we have to pay to cancel it. I explain that I wasn't asked if this was our first time there or even advised that counter automatically means omakase, and if that worked for us, etc. I explained that it was a total miscommunication on their part to assume that we had experienced their restaurant before. He says, this time I'll let it go but not next time. Really?!. Here we are at your restaurant about to spend a few hundred dollars and you give us grief over omakase or not. Whoa. Yea, no.
I decided we weren't staying. There was no way I'm paying you to treat us poorly, give us bad customer service and ask me to pay you to let me cancel omakase so that we can eat regular menu. Seriously, ridiculous. It was so embarrassing. No only did they not get any of our money but we would never go back to that establishment. No money from us but definitely bad reviews.

Read moreThis sushi restaurant boasts a stunning interior that immediately captures the eye with its beauty and ambiance. From elegant décor to soothing lighting, the atmosphere sets the stage for an enjoyable dining experience.During our visit, we were greeted warmly by the friendly staff, who were attentive and accommodating. However, our initial positive impression was marred by a minor hiccup in service. Our server seemed to be missing for an extended period, and when we inquired about our final sushi roll, it appeared to have been forgotten. After flagging down another server, the issue was addressed, but the delay was noticeable.Upon further inquiry, we learned that the restaurant's computer system was experiencing technical difficulties, which may have contributed to the oversight. While we understand that such issues can arise, we would have appreciated clearer communication from our server regarding the situation.Despite the service hiccup, the highlight of our experience was undeniably the food. Each sushi roll was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor, showcasing the culinary skill of the chefs. From traditional favorites to inventive creations, every bite was a delight to the palate. In conclusion, while our visit had its ups and downs, the quality of the food ultimately left a lasting impression. With a bit of improvement in communication and service efficiency, this restaurant has the potential to become a standout dining destination for sushi...
Read moreMy friends, and I had the worst experience last Friday night. We were regular customers of Ori Sushi. We’ve dined there often, at least once a week, and spent quite a lot of money, always tipped well. The last experience was horrific. We had placed our order for food and drinks. Food started to come out. That is when server told us that they have run out of wine and advised us to go to a nearest liquor store and buy our own wine and that there will be a $40 corkage fee which they will not be able to waive. That was inconvenient, but we had one of our friends go to the store and buy couple bottles of wine. To our surprise, upon his return another restaurant employee who appears to be the Chef (called himself Ori) told us that we can’t have outside wine in the restaurant. We asked for a manager and he said he was the owner of this restaurant. This guy supposedly named Ori was yelling at us not even giving us a chance to explain what happened. He said he doesn’t care and that he doesn’t want to listen to us, he’s too busy and has too many things to do. Has no time for us. He Refused to serve us. We had to scramble to find another place to eat at on a busy Friday evening (pretty much impossible to do without an advance reservation). What a poor customer service.
This is simply unacceptable.
They definitely need some customer service retraining.
Evening was ruined, will never comeback to this place.
They need to train their...
