Chu's Too — Restaurant in Redding

Went in about 2pm on a Friday, the place was near empty. I ordered tempura lunch special and my friend broccoli beef. The soup was very nice but we didn't care for the sweet dressing on the cabbage salad, personal preference. The broccoli beef was good and my friend took her leftovers home. I sent my tempura back, it was thick and gummy batter not the light and crispy that tempura should be. I can only assume the cook doesn't know not to over mix the batter or it gets doughy, it was the worst I have ever had. The manager(?) protested that they had been there 40 years, no...the Chus Skyroom at the airport has been open for 40 years and would never serve that gummy mess. 4/21/18: GREAT food and service, but beware the ol bait/switch! Food quality/service gain 5 stars-quantity is lacking. A very tempting picture of sashimi is shown on the menu: about 24 pieces packing a plate. Actual dish is about 1/3 the size, with 12 pieces of weakly presented sashimi. We selected the $22 'assortment', and it's a total rip. Nigiri pieces are about half the size of what I'm used to seeing but $1-$2 more per order. Save yourself the money, we went around lunch, my husband ordered walnut prawns the Mayo was rancid we told the waitress she said no sauce good. That order came out 10 mins before mine. The table next to us started getting their food we asked about mine she said coming soon. Finally mine came and it was drenched in sweat and sour sauce, which tasted like katsup. We were very disappointed to say the least Oh yeah one more thing our bill was over charged by 50 cents we didn't care we just got out there....
