I've had a few experiences which have led to a one star rating:
They refuse to remake a drink, and seem to have little experience regarding coffee. An example: I ordered an Americano, the water used was luke warm. After letting them know the drink was ~room temp, they poured out part of the drink and added more water to "warm the drink". This didn't fix the issue because the water was the reason why the drink was room temp. "They ran out of hot water when they brewed coffee" was their reasoning. They then took my drink, dumped it into a pitcjer and then steamed it in the steamer to warm it. So not only was my coffee way watered down, it tasted terrible due to their method of warming it.
They charge me $.85 for almond milk in my Americano. NO OTHER COFFEE SHOP EVER DOES THIS. It's literally an inch worth of almond milk. They don't charge people to put cream/breve (which most coffee places charge for breve if it's for a latte), why would you charge for almond milk? I get it if it were a latte or cappuccino, but for a brewed coffee or Americano...too spendy.
I ordered a breakfast sandwich one time for $6, they threw it in a bag, where the cheese got everywhere and the sandwich fell apart, I complained and they said it's because they warmed it up. They should've put it in a box, when I recommended it, they just tossed a box on the counter.
They don't know how to make a cappuccino. I ordered a cappuccino for a colleague, they made them a latte. When asking for them to remake it, they said that's what a cappuccino is and refused.
In general their customer service is less than sub par. I am so glad I don't work near this shop anymore, as it was my only option in the morning.
People go here out of convenience, not out of choice. Hoping they can make adjustments to their customer service method, and focus on the customer-- this place isn't cheap so they need to level up their service to...
Read moreDiscovered this place, now going there regularly. Great coffee - roasted right there in the store. Great warmed up muffins. Quiet place, plenty of parking space along the street. Riverside trail, park, and public library across the street. Nice happy polite people are serving at this place. Great vibe. Nice enough to compel me to write this review.
Update: Changing from 5 stars to 2 stars. Apparently good things don't stay good for too long. The quality of service went down significantly - whether because the place got more customers, or because different people are working there now. More to the point, over and over again my muffin comes to me cold. Even when I explicitly ask them to warm up my muffin better so it would not be cold in the middle, I still get it barely warm, and cold inside. When I ask them why they did not do what I asked, they argue that they warmed it long enough, as if the end result is not what actually matters, and as if it is not their job to make sure the muffin is warm. I am not going to eat there again - the coffee is...
Read moreUnfortunately, River Trail has done a nosedive in the past couple of months. When we first started coming to River Trail, every weekend had roughly the same crew of friendly, knowledgeable, customer-service focused people. That really made the place feel welcoming, and the coffee was consistently great. The coffee is now often burnt tasting or otherwise just not great, and if you ask for your drink to be remade, you'll likely get an argument about how your taste buds are wrong.
The food used to be great, now it's all overpriced, prepackaged stuff. That changed months ago, but wasn't enough to put us off the cafe. These days it seems like they're constantly going through new employees, and they don't seem to stick around long enough to actually learn much about coffee.
Overall, definitely still the best physical space of all the cafes in Redmond, but the coffee, food, and service leave much to be desired these days. I'd really love to see the team buckle down, re- train,...
