Updated April 2024 Once again, a welcoming and authentic experience. Loved being able to take home a box of little sweets to enjoy at leisure. The Eccles cakes are truly crumbly pastries and very comforting, my favorite! Lunch is delicious at Neville's next door. We loved the fish n chips and cooked to order burger. Hospitality is genuine and kind. Only downside is the scarcity of parking during busy times. ..... Thrilled!! to know this place is still here after all these years. Used to visit this shop decades ago when I lived in Redmond. Now upon returning, it is wonderful to recapture and renew a connection to all the good people, good treats, and specialty items here. This visit we bought shortbread wedges from the bakery case. And of course these tender beauties put to shame the national brand in its plaid box. So light, scrumptious, perfect! Also got some other treats, including a plum tart and a jam tart. They've got a variety of what I would call hand pies or pasties, with meat filling, and they are also good. What really attracts me, personally, is the friendly service and the assortment of hard to find items for my baking needs. Golden syrup, custard powder, lady finger cookies, all sorts of teas, everything I don't want to be without. Top it off with gorgeous gift wares of cups, mugs, trays, tiered cookie serving pieces, and more. Glorious bit of happiness here, from old memories to the opportunity...
Read moreFood 0/5: Some of the worst breakfast I've had in a while. The bacon was dry and felt like biting into a glued together pork dust. The sausage/bangers felt like I was chewing into am microwaved piece of meat and it didn't represent the quality food I saw on other photos for Google Maps Review. The potatoes were bland and also dry. The eggs were rancid or at least the hollandaise sauce sat around and were not made fresh at all.
Service 0/5: We were told to sit right near the register even though a nicer well-lit area were wide open. When trying to ask for water my wife waited standing for over 10 minutes and when she tried to ask the staff for water she were ignored until single server helped us with water. When we wanted hot water for the tea before I could ask instead for coffee she just walked away.
Atmosphere 3/5: The place felt nice and cozy until again the place we were forced to sit were near the kitchen and the kitchen staff were loud, yelling and overall distracting from the food experience.
Value 1/5 : Your experience will certainly vary depending on the day you go seems like.It was not worth the 45 $ USD I had to pay for these over-priced microwave meals. I'm absolutely not happy with the experience and I've asked for a refund but I have been denied refund and will be working with my bank to...
Read moreI went to visit The British Pantry today with a friend, and I enjoyed it.
The service was great and the staff were nice. I liked the British and antique, yet classical vibe of the restaurant. It was very quaint and peaceful.
The food was good. However, I gave four stars because I wish they had more vegetarian options. Their vegetarian options were little to none. They should totally consider getting some vegetarian meat substitutes or adding vegetarian options. There are a lot of vegetarians in this area, and especially on the east side, where they are located. I had the crumpets with butter and jam, scrambled eggs, and fried potatoes. It was a delicious dish. It tasted very authentic and was full of great flavors!
They also have a cute shop next to the restaurant, and a bar next door to that. They are all owned by the same owners.
Overall, I would recommend The British Pantry. However, if you are vegetarian, please know that your options are very limited and you will have to get creative and remove meat, and add...
