It's a new construction, so it has AC and fiber internet by default which is nice.
Older reviews mention a pointless trash valet service. Since then, management finally listened and discontinued it.
The doors use fancy electronic locks instead of keys, so you'll need to stay on top of replacing the batteries of the lock so that you don't get locked out.
Some of the issues, like the smoke alarms being too sensitive as the other reviews mention, are teething problems from it being a new construction. If you're getting an apartment here you're probably the first person to live in it and reveal these issues.
AC and refrigerator are loud and may make it hard for you to sleep at night. If you're touring the apartment, get them to turn the AC and refrigerator on for you.
Hot water is centralized and shared between all apartments, instead of a separate heater in each apartment. That means you may not have hot water if everyone else in the building has already used a lot. In the winter of 2022, about a quarter of my showers were with lukewarm water, no matter what time of the day I took them. That was when the building was brand new, so it's only going to get worse as more people move in. One of the maintenance people confirmed to me that he also has the same problem and other residents have also complained about it, but they can't do anything about it other than hope that all residents take their showers at separate times (!!!)
They let people "reserve" the west elevator, so nobody but that resident can use it for an hour. If you get an apartment near that elevator, just assume that every so often you'll have to walk the whole length of the building to the east elevators instead. The intent is that new residents can reserve the elevator when they move in, but I'm not sure if there's any benefit from that. The elevator isn't that commonly used, so you wouldn't have to wait that long to use it even if you didn't reserve it. Reserving it just makes the elevator sit mostly unused for an hour, and everyone else who could've used it is inconvenienced for no reason.
There's a "clubroom" on the sixth floor that's open 24/7 and also has terrible sound-proofing. All apartments within fifty feet of it are kept awake by people talking and laughing inside. As the building has started filling out with residents this has started getting worse. Residents keep leaving the door open so that the noise spreads out even more. Management has refused to...
Read moreMy best friend and I toured this apartment community at 1 PM on Saturday, December 31st, with every intention of applying immediately after touring as he decided this is where he was most excited to live. I just rented down the street, and had an incredible experience with Allez where the Assistant Manager was kind, down to Earth and had me approved same day for my new apartment.
We were surprised that there was zero access to the building to the public, and had to be beeped in to enter. Jared sounded unfriendly and monotone when he beeped us in, and didn't even move from his seat when we walked into the office.
Right off the bat he isn't giving us time to speak, and is rattling off so much information we couldn't get a word in. He told us the apartment we were interested in was his, and that we could apply for it but he had no idea when the move-in date would be and when they would send us the lease.
What?? There was no solid move in date and it was up in the air when they would send the lease??
I used to work in property management before moving to big tech in Redmond, and I've never heard of this. I have also lived on-site when I was in the industry, and a property management company would never have an approved applicant have no idea when they can move in, or sign their lease.
It occurred to me that Jared did NOT want us to lease. We were either being discriminated against for being minorities, or he didn't want to chance having this apartment rent before he was ready to move.
I asked for the property managers email or number, and he refused, saying they only had a shared inbox. How easy it would be for Jared to delete my concerned email to management if that is the case.
As someone who used to work in the industry, I highly believe Jared lied to us and was attempting to manipulate us into not renting so he doesn't have to move before he secures his new apartment. I recommend that anyone looking to rent here avoid this property. Is this the experience Mill Creek Residential Trust wants for...
Read moreBeen here just about a year and recently renewed for a second year! I'll use this space to highlight my experience with some common issues others have highlighted in their reviews:
Cost - given the neighborhood and location of the property, yes, it's on the pricier side but still well within a normal range for the area. My renewal rate was only 2% higher than my first year rate, so, I felt comfortable with that increase. Thanks Itzel, for making that happen! Valet trash — completely agree with others that it was not a service worth $25/mo. And, guess what, the management team has taken care of it and is no longer due starting April, 2023. Maintenance — raising tickets is easy, and Neil and the other maintenance staff takes care of it quickly while keeping you in the loop.
Other pros: Cleanliness — even after messy Friday/Saturday nights, the common areas appear spick and span the very next day. In general, everything is maintained really well. Free coffee/hot chocolate and pretty good quality too! Who knows, maybe the property and redirect some of that Valet Trash money to improve the availability of the coffee machine! Quiet area - no construction noise (maybe except a few days for the new dentist office), just the glorious sun or the doomy clouds with birds chirping! The traffic also dies down after 5pm, and it's a safe area to walk around in.
Cons (not cons per se, but some things that would make the experience even better!): Cost of parking - $150 for a compact spot seems steep for Redmond, so, a break here would be nice! The massive TVs in the common area and theater are frequently down and don't seem to work with HDMI cables causing folks to mess with the TV and screw things up more. We need a more reliable way to use these TVs Same with the music system - the Bluetooth connection has worked 1 out of 10 times - again, should be more reliable.
