Mixed feelings about this one. Spice level and taste of the food are good but the portion size, especially in relation to the price is not so good.
Seems to be set up like a “Chipotle-esque” type with several cast iron pots holding the food (lids on) and a “you choose” toppings bar. But some items like the wraps and bread are prepared in the back and the parathas used for the wraps are too thin, slightly undercooked and thus become soggy fast. Makes for a very messy wrap that falls apart fast. Choice of sides is strange too as chickpeas and lentils don’t necessarily pair well.
Prices start at $10 for small entrees, about $12 for a wrap (small) and apps start at about $3. Friendly service but serving these items on flimsy paper plates also doesn’t make sense—-seems like the place is geared for to-go orders. Also, they use the typical Indo restaurant method of having prepared sauces and adding cooked protein when you order—-that’s not how Indians cook but I get it for the speed and variety.
Not for me but judging by the neighborhood crowd I’m sure it’s a...
Read moreI was in the Redondo Beach neighborhood so figured I would try out this place. First and foremost the host of this place were attentive and very helpful. They asked if I needed help picking from the menu and made a few suggestions. I figured I was pretty familiar with the cuisine so I picked the Vada Pav to eat in and the Goan fish to take home for my wife. The Vada Pav was filling and tasted good. Its a good snack to have when you are hungry. The fish was decent too. My wife felt it was okay however she was not head over heel with the dish. I also had a cup of masala tea when I was in the restaurant. The tea seemed a little watered down but the taste was fine. There is ample parking in and around the location and they also have seating inside the restaurant. Not a bad place to get some Indian food. I understand they also have some food by the plate where you can mix a few items. They have a good range of vegetarian and meat dishes on the menu. The accept credit cards, cash and Apply pay. Overall good...
Read moreIn love with this place. I've been a regular here since 2015. I'm a big fan of samosa pav and vada pav on their side dish menu. Those two are Indian street delicacies, which people at Bollywood Zaika have aced. The staff is super friendly and cheerful. The ambience is very familiar and reminds me of small pop up food joints in Mumbai. They always fairly recent bollywood songs unlike most other places where the music is a bit dated (a.k.a a decade or two old). I don't mind old music either, however, this is a welcome change.
They serve combination plates, bowls or wrap with multiple mains, sides and condiments to mix and match. They also have special menu which in most cases, are hidden gems and must tries. Once a while, these menu have ice creams with really authentic flavors like pan, sitaphal (type of fruit), anjeer (fig) etc. These flavors are a norm in India but you hardly see them here in states, so if you ever see those on the special menu, then it's highly recommended to...
