Carl's Jr. — Restaurant in Redwood City

We were traveling through the area at night recently and stopped in late at night. We were worried their lobby was closed, but they welcomed us in and were very friendly. Their dining area was spotless, though dated. Carl's Jr in general is a decent fast food option, though they are relatively expensive. The quality is notably better than some of their cheaper competition, though. Feeding our group of 5 came with some sticker shock, but it did the trick, and prices were generally more expensive in CA than what we'd get back home.

Another quirk we dealt with in CA, especially here, was having to get the bathroom key from the front counter. This was a mild inconvenience traveling with two kids and a few people with chronic stomach problems; we had to ask for the key several times...

Late night. I had to keep repeating my order. I normally check my order before leaving. It was late and I was tired. My son was waiting at home from Surgery. I got home and my Double Bacon Cheese Burgers were MUSHY SINGLE SLOPPY BURGERS. One had bacon. The soda tasted like the machine hadn't been cleaned! (Mango/Cream of Soda flavor, isn't on the Menu! $24.00 for a late night MESS. This is when I question in giving ALL Fast Food Workers a Living wage? I really want to go back and get a Refund! I did not eat the mess. My Hungry Son picked around the mess. The dog wouldn't eat it! I think I will go back and let the Owner know? Carl's Jr might win the dubious award for the worst food in California! If you have even a vague interest in dietary requirements, their menu reads like a nuclear waste site of dietary disaster. The only reasonable item I could find was the grilled chicken salad. This half-hearted attempt at healthy food was a pile of iceberg lettuce, scoop of grated cheese, two tomato slices, two red onion slices and a dried out overcooked chicken breast. I threw most of it away. Might as well just give up and get the Bacon Western Cheeseburger, it will kill you in the end, but at least it tastes good.
