Do not go here! Bad business practices and poor customer service! I have been a long time customer. I have had several occasions celebrated here with my family. I had called in an order for pickup and was charged appropriately. I was sick with a cold and my wife was picking up dinner on her way home from work. It was heavily snowing and I was told it would be ready in 15-20 mins. When my wife arrived she was asked to wait even longer, around 40 mins. She was told it was because there kitchen was running behind due to a large party. After finally receiving the food she drove across town home. When she arrived we sat to eat and I noticed my order was made incorrectly. I was given the wrong items and my order was prepared incorrectly. My wife's food was correct and made very well. I immediately called and notified the restaurant. They asked me what I wanted them to do about it. I responded saying I'm not sure, what do they suggest. The young lady then gave the phone to another lady who did not introduce herself and again asked me to explain what had happened. After explaining again I was told " they would not be able to do anything unless I brought the food back in or they might be able to give me free tortillas next time I come in, but unless they have the food there was nothing they could do". I told them it was across town for me and snowing heavly. She again stated that there was nothing they could do without the food. I let her know I would be down with my food asap. In my PJ's, sick and very upset I drove back across town in the snow. When I arrived I felt as though I was being treated as I had lied. They searched through the food bag in the front of the restaurant and then went to remake the order without asking if that was what I wanted. This was going to take another 15-20 mins by this time it had been 1.5 hours since I originally placed the order. I informed the young lady at the counter I wanted a refund and was not interested in getting my food remade. She said it would be a moment and had to tell the other lady (who I later found out was Freddy Miranda's daughter ) I did not want the food. I sat down and patiently waited. It did not help that I had to sit and listen to the staff arguing about my refund and how they wanted to only refund my dinner not my wife's and that they wanted to refund then recharge but could not do that because we paid with a card and it would not let them resubmit it. The check was only around 40 dollars they ended up giving me cash back for my only my dinner portion. And made me sign a paper reciept. I hope it was worth the extra 20 dollars to them. They never apologized for the inconvenience or having made a mistake on my order. Instead they just tried to give me excuses about how sometimes they have people helping who are not used to it. As they gave me the money Freddy's daughter said that she would have been willing to remake the order for me instead of a refund. They definitely lost mine and my families business now and in the future and have to deal with a negative review. Bad business practices and Poor...

Love it! Best Mexican food in town, we think. Great staff, knowledgeable, friendly, always on the ball & ready serve. Margaritas are very good, strong, smooth to sip the evening away. Lots of BEAUTIFUL artwork and designs to feast your eyes on. Plates are pretty full of great food and they always have "to go" bags if your eyes are bigger than your stomach.

Great place for family and friends to spend an evening. Large bar area with seating & tables, also. There's a seating area just inside the doorway should you have a small wait. Best to get reservations, though, if it's a busy night or a holiday. They accommodate large parties with reservations. However, it's best to call ahead, just to be sure. The restrooms are very, very clean & well kept. If there is the occasional hiccup, they jump right on it and make it right!

They have a handicap walkway that's very easy to use and takes you right up to the door. Parking is somewhat limited but you can park on the street, if need be. There are a few handicap parking spaces but they're quite limited and the parking area can be a bit of a challenge to maneuver. Especially, if you have a large vehicle and trying to negotiate your way in & out of the spaces.

It is within walking distance from the big Casinos. However, we suggest using Uber or Lyft because then there are no parking concerns. Plus, your party is able to have plenty of drinks & not have to worry about driving. Always a BIG plus in our book!

Most of the time, you can walk in off the street and still be able to get a good table, without any, or a very short, wait. They can and do accommodate children along with the more mature crowd. They have a very extensive menu and will try to bend over backwards to accommodate your dietary needs. No need to dress up but you should at least be clean with your i's dotted & your t's crossed.

As I said, the food is very good and Bertha's is well regarded within the community. Give it a real try, you just might surprise yourself...

Horrible!! The one thing right with this establishment were the bartenders. They were attentive, engaging and accommodating. leaving you with a great first impression. After the rest of our 9 person party arrived, the hype fell away as we were seated. Our waiter was hurried, inarticulate and rude, we are not an impatient group and hardly picky. At first I assumed he was simply new but as the night progressed he was even more put out by even simple requests. He was unable keep drinks sorted out, every time anything was set on the table it was slammed down. There was a point we thought the plates or the Plexiglas, one or the other would break before the night was over. I had ordered a steak with red sauce medium rare. The sauce was bland, with a second bite into the steak the texture told me something was wrong. Upon further inspection I found it was raw. Naturally, I sent it back, this pissed the waiter off, it disappeared for 5 minutes, came back to the table, exactly the same steak in exactly the same position. Investigating I found it was still completely raw. So I chose to just eat some of the beans, which were bland and over cooked. The homemade tortillas where over larded and under-cooked. I heard other complaints from our table. Before we were able to get halfway through our hour drive home; the stomach cramps began. Terrible food, terrible service, there are so many great traditional Mexican restaurants in our area, choose one of those,...

If you pay attention to any review...EAT HERE!!! 3 years in a row.... AMAZING! I don't know this place only has 4.4 star rating. Wes, Kimberley, and the other 3 ladies we have had taken care of us have always been great. This year, 3 visits (1 each preceding year). I'll summerize without bothering with everything (original review at bottom). Enchiladas, tamale, mini chimi, quesadilla, chili relano....all excellent. Sauces....mole is a little sweet, Verde is thickened with less bite than most places we eat but possibly the best, and the regular red/enchilada sauce is thicker and bolder (perfect on the tamale). With this being our 4th year coming to Reno we have tried lots of places and this is the overall best of any category! Previous review: The Masterpiece...chicken chili relleno is very good but different with the almonds. Shredded beef taco is ok (trying another meat on it next time). Chicken enchilada...AMAZING! Rice and beans also AWESOME. 1st year can't remember what we are but it was great and Wes was super awesome. Wife says shredded beef quesadilla and chimichanga are what she needs to remember to order for next time. Note to myself for next year...try green sauce on something. Open on Sunday unlike most places when we are looking.
