I recently moved to Reno and am quite surprised that there aren't a lot more restaurants or bars with views of the river and/or mountains. There's only a very small handful of places downtown you can actually see the river from for example and it's completely ludicrous to me that 50 S Virginia St on the River (North of Pioneer Center) they put a parking lot between the building and the river.
But I digress, I managed to find this gem of a place with a rooftop bar. You can't see the river of course but it has a nice view of the surrounding neighborhood and Downtown area. Bartender was very friendly, made great drinks. It was uncrowded on a Saturday night at 7 as most people apparently come for the DJ later. So if you want a laid back atmosphere, you can hang out in the early evening and if you want some night life you can come later.
They do not have food so bring take-out from your favorite restaurant if you want to eat. If they at least had small bar food menu with some good bar food I'd give it 5 stars but the lack of food and the view being nice but not spectacular, this is a solid...
Read moreStopped here for the first time on Friday with a friend. The place was pretty empty but it was only 3pm. The rooftop was nicely decorated and the main floor is very spacious. The original idea was to do a little daytime bar hopping but this place was just too amazing to leave. This place has an amazing happy hour special too! A live band came in, but we left as they were warming up. I'm sure they were great though.
The best part was Nick! Nick was bartending that day. He kept us thoroughly entertained and makes awesome drinks... There was another customer there that was flirting and then randomly kissed the side of my face. Nick saw this and IMMEDIATELY checked the guy and said (paraphasing) "Hey! Make sure that's what she wants! Chill out!" Nick then proceeded to ask me if I was ok. This warmed my heart so much to see establishments like this hire good hearted individuals.
I will definitely be back to Lo Bar the next time I visit Reno. Great atmosphere....
Read moreFinding someone who hasnât had a problem with the little power tripping owner here is RARE. So many instances I can bring up but simply FIND ANOTHER BAR to save your money and peace of mind!!! Update: I think YOU are the one that needs a more accurate account of the night. My friend and I mistakenly walked up to you with drinks in our hand and had no problem taking them away when told (Iâm not stupid I know this isnât allowed, there was no issue here). The problem occurred as we moved down the street and tried to finish them before coming back. You followed us and demanded we hand over our drinks, telling us if we didnât give them to you then you werenât letting us in and that you wanted us to spend more money at your bar. No one had a tantrum except for you sir, which is really embarrassing all things considered. Iâm just happy you can role-play being a king and having âpowerâ somewhere in...
