You just gotta Love Winfield Park!! over the past 27 years I have witnesses one improvement after another take place there.

Having talked with many born & bred Reno-ites Winfield Park was mainly Tules, a place for down & outers, lots of weeds and a good place to find oneself in one type of trouble or another in the 1950 thru the1960's!

So it was in the late 50's up to the mid 80's. Standing back & taking a look, the place did have potential!?... For what tho? Gotta take a break... back to finish later. It is now, Later! On June 1st, I walked the southside of the park. At about 3 blocks away I encountered parked autos with enough bumper stickers, travel ID stickers & handwritten Bravado & cheer in grease pencil to figure out, " Something's going on here!" And it was...

The Reno Aurora run in its 18th year(or was it 17 yrs?) of Attendance & Support was happening at 8:30 when I passed thru. Since I know only a little about this event & I would guess, Non-profit enterprise that I'll defer to Google Search if you want to know more.

Got some nice pics of Winfield Park, the Amphitheatre & our swollen Truckee River, its 2 weeks since my 1st photos! A little more...

Our first time in Reno and we expected a lower class version of Vegas, to which we were so pleasantly surprised by what awaited is here! Sure there are casinos and some homeless, but that's nothing compared to the beautiful parks like this one Reno has to offer the senses!! I do have some questions about this sculpture though... Is it not a woman's reproductive organs?? Amazing piece, yes, but I can't NOT see that! I'll need to do some research on the sculptor and their intended takeaway of this piece. This walk was perfect for a sunny April day. Between the sounds of the River and the smells of Spring ... You can't help but feel balanced and reset after some time walking/sitting here (or any of the local Reno parks for that matter). Good dog walk too, so take Fito for sure. I'd love to see this place in the full swing of Summer, as I'm guessing there are a lot of swimmers and boaters and kayaks going...

It's September 7th 2024. I'm at Winfield Park for Reno Pride!

Honestly, it's a lot of fun. Friendly people everywhere and so much kindness.

The place is gated off for the event and it feels nice that all the hall monitors and bullies from school have either grown out of it or are holding signs protesting at the entrance to this event.

It's 93⁰F and hardly any shade from the trees. Glad to see that a bunch of litter was cleaned up before the event so the children here aren't picking up dirty syringes.

Plenty of food trucks and stands around with a great variety of options.

I'll update this at a later time to tell folks about Wingfield Park...
