Very nice place, great "old Reno" corner location which years ago was the old school neighborhood "California Market", very limited parking, high priced mediocre food, broad variety of luke warm coffee blends in self-service top-pump Thermos's.
Aside from the foregoing- if you like "Everything" bagels definitely go somewhere else.
Everything bagel with nearly no everything crust, chintzy amounts of cream cheese, capers and lox, loaded with tomato and red onion served not warm after being ordered and served toasted and cup of self serve coffee $17.08 with .64 cent UPCHARGE for using credit card, total $17.72 excluding tip.
I complained to a friendly counter person showing the nearly bald "Everything" bagel who politely and directly stated it would be taken care of and directed me to go back to my seat with the food and tray. After nearly 5 minutes a wait person with an annoyed attitude approached me and advised me of two choices. 1) she would bring me some "Everything" spice to sprinkle on what I had or 2) they would remake it. I responded, "please remake it", her annoyed attitude continued. The bagel was sliced, served open face... how to you sprinkle everything spice on the top side of the bagel that rests on the plate and is eaten topside down? RIDICULOUS. The "Everything" crust (or any other spice, be it poppy seed, salt, garlic, whatever) adheres to wet raw dough and is baked onto the bagel forming something of a crust, right???
About 5 minutes passed and a different wait staffer very courteously delivered my "re-made" order. It was the same as the first; what a joke, a loosing battle...
If you try the place maybe you'll have better luck but the better bet is to go elsewhere.
After posting this review I'll be telephoning the establishment, asking to speak with the Manager on duty to bring to their attention this Review.
Following up...
After placing 3 calls over the the course of about 45 minutes (approx 12:30 - 1:15 PM), with each call answered by a recording stating "we're to busy assisting Customers to take your call", (what am I?) the 4th (1:30 PM) call was answered by a very pleasant human being. I asked to speak with the manager, the courteous person stated that no manager was on premises.
I then asked if there was anyone there who is "in charge", the courteous person replied, "no". I then asked when is management typically present. The response, "around opening at 6 AM and around 1 PM".
The Ownership/Management of My Favorite Muffin & Bagel is... well... for the most part, not there.
Update- 1 week after my call and message left for the Manager or Owner I have not received...

It was my first time here, so I scanned over the menu carefully. While another customer came in, I told them we were not ready to order yet and to proceed to the register, while the employee yelled “LINE UP IN FRONT OF THE MUFFIN CASE.” The employee did not have a name tag, however, the receipt says “Amelia.” Amelia seemed to have a face of disgust, attitude, and hardly made eye contact throughout the entire interaction. I asked Amelia questions and she was short with her answers. I noticed her behavior was different with the customer I let in front of us, as well as with others in the establishment. I was happy that others were handed their food and told to have a great day. When my food was ready, my name was called out and left on the counter. I am hard of hearing so I was happily awaiting for my food to be handed to me, luckily my partner was able to tell me my order was ready so I could grab it off the counter. Again, I had no interactions (greeting, assistance, or farewell) with any employee aside from the time I ordered. I was planning on dining in, but due to this treatment I received, I ate my food in my vehicle. The food also was sub par. I will not be recommending this place to anyone and advise you also do...
Read moreWatched the staff handle an awkward situation today just before Mount Rose had their walk to school event. As I was having breakfast, a little girl, her even smaller brother and their grandfather received their order, a plain sandwich cheese roll of some kind. The gentleman was primarily non English speaking and granddaughter acted as interpreter. Forgive me if I am assuming too much. Apparently they had ordered a turkey sandwich without cheese and what they got was just the bread. Moments later, the brave little girl walked up to the counter to try and sort things out with all eyes on her. I was fully expecting the staff to ask for the difference in price, but they did not. They corrected the order without much fuss when they could have very easily made things much more challenging.
I would like to thank the staff for their display of kindness. Despite being in the middle of the breakfast rush, they took the time to look after someone who couldn't possibly fend for herself yet. Kudos to your corner community cafe and I wish you all...
